Doubtful if i can get alloys on this Bug, as this is a Total Budget restoration, too little funds for every set of work carried out.

Restoring this Beetle has been the toughest till date. Need to do everything right but with a Wrong budget. Finally its almost done, waiting to deliver it before Weekend.

I wish you hit upon surplus funds very soon, and give it some shiny alloys and oversized tyres! Will look a dasher!

Godness, this car has been the Most Challenging project ever....

A BIG knife called BUDGET hanging large over my neck every moment and during every process, it was like i was asked to make people work Double for the price paid.

Delivered the car today evening, Mechanically and Cosmetically the car is Super Fit and Fine, barring a light Hum in the Gear-box and non-sliding seats ( Again not attended as there is NO BUDGET for the same )

Hopeful to get the budget for the above once inspected by the car owner and complete the following. Now no issues as the car is running fine without failing during the drive.

Great Job! Herbie Rides again, and that too in original Papaya Yellow shade, were you able to find all parts in India itself ?

Most of the parts were purchsed by the car owners friend from Bangkok, but they are all Chinese made stuff and sadly did not last longer, The windshield rubbers started showing cracks from the second day they were installed, The window winder machines gave way on the third Wind.

The rest of the parts were provided by thebulletboy - Jalopy shop in Bangalore, he has a high reputation of supplying Quality spares.

That was the main idea Prithvi, Keep it Simple, just like the Budget. In total, the whole restoration cost of the car was kept under 1.28 lacs Plus another 20k for some other minor upgrades recently, So Well under 1.60 lacs for the Full Restoration.

Although there are 2 things that have remained un-done.

1) Gearbox replacement ( has a light but negligible humming noise )
2) Clutch cable plumbing inside the spine ( corroded, replacement not done as adviced )

The expectations for Restoration was HIGH on this car, but the Budget was not.

Indeed, Hats off to you for putting another Volkswagen on the road, this time on a shoestring budget!

I see a Morris Minor Low-Light behind the Bug in some pictures. What is the story on that?

P.S: How on earth do so many air-cooled VWs manage to reach you?
Also, nice to see an SS80 behind the Bug. I guess that is being restored as well.

I that is indeed the case, how about a restoration
on that as well?
