Man what a restoration, so meticulous. +1 for this. And I am amazed on how you manage to get a lot of OEM parts. Kudos on that front too.

Re: Vatsa Vintage Resurrection - Rajdoot GTS 175 aka Bobby

Thanks a lot Manishalive!

Just doing what I could do best.

As far as parts are concerned I have not really gone into the markets. What I did was that I drove to slighly up-country areas around Delhi and inquired for spare parts shops for Rajdoot.

Went and and went with a lot of time on my hand and asked them to dig out parts that they may still have for the GTS. Lot of them didnt. But a lot of them did and were happy to move those parts to a mad customer like me. But all of them wanted time to dig them out as they parts were not on regular shelves where the newer faster moving items were kept. Some even had them in stores away from shops. So I offered to go with them to their stores and took them in my car to dark damp stores and got all that I could manage.

Thats the only little small secret to getting so many OE parts for the GTS still packed in their OEM packings.

Cheers!

Re: Vatsa Vintage Resurrection - Rajdoot GTS 175 aka Bobby

Hi Guys

This weekend I made some more progress on the engine. I was able to assemble the set of new bearings - FAG France, Crank, Clutch with new cork plates, new OE Gear Selector Shaft, New Kick Quadrant (OE), New Kick Gear OE, new Thrust Washer Clutch (OE) and all new OE Oil Seals and Clutch chain and sprocket.

Have assembled the gear cluster and in this week I plan to comlete the entire engine assembly.

The Magnet has been sent for painting and will be back today.

Here are the pics.

Cheers!

Re: Vatsa Vintage Resurrection - Rajdoot GTS 175 aka Bobby

HI Guys.

There has been some more slow and steady progress over the weekend when I got a little time to tend to this restoration.

The engine is now complete (minus the stator and coil plate) and in the bike now.

The tail light - ORIGINAL HELLA - same as on Anoop Mathur's bike which is original to the hilt by the way, has come in - it was made in Romania by Hella - lucky to find it on ebay! Am getting a chrome surround made for it through a chap who makes brass parts. Once it is done will have it chrome plated!

The Handle bar too has been installed. The Brake Yoke was new OE part so are the clutch and brake levers - were packed in original Rajdoot packing. The clutch yoke was original and is in good condition - has gone for powder coating.

Have colored the engraved Rajdoot lettering on the engine side cover.

The clutch small sprocket dot has been aligned to show BTDC and TDC.

Anabond sealant and gasket installed.

Manifold support installed.

Lock installed.

Horn installed.

Found an original Rear Number plate - FINALLY - that has gone for painting.

ANYONE WITH A WIRING DIAGRAM? Please help!

Cheers!

I'll have to hide my very 'original' Bobby since I'm sure it will pale in comparison to your lovingly restored GTS!
I look forward to this visit!

Re: Vatsa Vintage Resurrection - Rajdoot GTS 175 aka Bobby

Hi All
Today I installed the tail light on the bike. As I shared earlier it is the original Hella light assembly that I managed to get from Romania. It did not have a chrome surround at the base. So the task was entrusted to Mr. Tutu Dhawan's workshop to get one made. Finally the master piece arrived yesterday duly chrome plated. It is an outstanding creation and a perfect fit like an OE part. The same has been installed today.

Lots of slow but steady progress on the bike!

Can't downsize the pics in my smartphone so will share from my computer soon.

Thanks

Dear All

As I said earlier I transferred the images from my phone to my computer and reduced the size.

Superb Restoration Sir.

Can I get hold of a plate too

I have been trying to get my hand on one since a very long time.

The other thing that I am missing is the front brake plate..

Waiting to see the final pictures.

Hey Twinn - sent you a PM. Name Plate I can arrange a new one for you from the guy who made it for me.

Brake plate is not available with me. Try on the internet. Saw it on OLX some time ago with some guy in Bhubaneshwar.

Thanks for your appreciation.

Cheers!
