Re: '72 VW Beetle Restored! For 2 Indian Motorsport Stalwarts

Excellent. Very well and tastefully restored back to its original glory. One question though- do those tyres hinder the ride quality, like don't they scrape the body? just curious.

Congratulations.

Nice work, and wonderful detailing. Thanks for sharing. The paint job and body work are excellent. If you don't mind sharing, pls mention the cost for the paint work, including all putty, polishing, baking etc. Very curious to know.

Another superb restoration by Pavan Sir. You indeed have mastery when it comes to Beetle restorations.

Perfect choice of colour and alloys. Looks stunning.

Re: '72 VW Beetle Restored! For 2 Indian Motorsport Stalwarts

Superb, simply superb.

Love the colour the interior trims, the alloys. All of it just perfect. Somehow this is the kind of restoration that I love rather than the true to time and age one.

How many days was the vehicle under restoration from start to finish?

Re: '72 VW Beetle Restored! For 2 Indian Motorsport Stalwarts

Wow! very nicely done. The body color and wheels looks great. Interiors too look pretty neat.

The car looks absolutely gorgeous! Hats off to you for such a beautiful restoration. The photos are like an Indian version of Chip Foose's Overhaulin'! Would have been a great surprise to the owners.

Wish I could get our Benz 190 fintail like this one day.

So, the project took like just 10/11 months? Amazing how you gathered all the parts within that.

Re: '72 VW Beetle Restored! For 2 Indian Motorsport Stalwarts

Thanks to all for such wonderful compliments, yes indeed this is a finest example of a Beetle in the country, yet it has a long way to go from here. We as a team are determined to take this car a level up in the coming days.

The project took close to 8 months to completion,

BUDGET ....!!! Well, Sanjay needs to answer that

Re: '72 VW Beetle Restored! For 2 Indian Motorsport Stalwarts

Budget ,

This is a tricky question to answer. In all honesty, budget depends on the owners need/requirement of a final result in mind. That end requirement of look'72 VW Beetle Restored! For 2 Indian Motorsport Stalwarts-photo.jpg and feel then stipulates whether you can cut corners or not. This car was in the family since the late 80's, first tweaked by S Karivardhan , the 1641 engine with bits was purchased in the mid to late 90's , cleared by a friend in chennai at considerable expense of effort, and then the whole project came to a standstill because of wrong choice of a restorer/enthusiast and then team bhp came
to our rescue with the contact of an aircooled petrol head _ PAVAN KADAM. Like they say the rest is HISTORY.

This was how we drove the car (Arjun and Me) in the 80's. That exhaust is a Karivardhan Creation with two Bullet mufflers, (which we still have along with a stinger tip).

So when Arjun and I saw the work that Pavan did with aircooled VWs, it gave us the confidence to create the look we always wanted and to get the bits that the final result needed. With all the available sources today, it was just a matter of finalizing on a dependable source and letting Pavan get on with what he does best.

The end result is what you see - moving air and water
