My 1966 Jawa Kyvacka 350cc

HI Guys,
Wanted to share the pics of my Jawa 350 (twin cylinder) model 354-04.
Its an awesome machine which was restored in Bangalore by me.
The vehicle itself moves beautifully and has done a couple of reasonably long rides - one of which was to the karnataka coast (Kukke Subrahmanya) and another to Mysore and back. The engine is so smooth that it is a one hand start motorcycle (check video)

The last photo was taken in the Kukke Subrahmanya ghats on my way back, while the first few are all post renovation of the bike.

Superb to say the least. I wasn't even aware than such model existed. This bike has some history (most of the old vehicles have some story), if you dont mind, i am all ear to hear that story.

Cool Bike. Java had a 350cc model? I thought they all had a 250 cc engine. Been looking for a yezdi roadking for quite some time now, but not finding the right one. Java's were yezdi's predecessors, correct?

What a wonderful bike. Congrats on the excellent restoration. Liked the way you started the bike with your hand.

Cheers

That is a BEAUTIFUL machine. Restoration work is also top notch.
How about some clean closer shots of the engine.
Just a question, Is that the original design of seat?

Raab rakha.

Classic. I like the contrast between the metal and the green. Love the spokes, adds to the charm. The Engine compartment looks beautiful, just the head and the inlets. Enjoy the ride

Looks superb, especially a refreshing change in that (Emerald?) green colour. I painted my 72 too in a similar shade.

One question - were these twins also assembled in India or personal imports?

Re: My 1966 Jawa Kyvacka 350cc

Hi,

The bike looks superb after the restoration. Have you re chromed the silencers? Never seen a Jawa 350 before, but once I had seen a Yezdi 350 (twin cylinder) owned by a Parsi in Mumbai.

Happy Riding!

Re: My 1966 Jawa Kyvacka 350cc

Wow awesome resotration, looks so nice and meaty. Seeing a Jawa twin is awesome. I have seen many Yezdi twins and then few of my friends have mated the twin engine (procured when the factory closed down) to the road king chassis, and that thing looks damn nice. I think I have seen on in the Banglore too.

No. Jawa has quite a few 350cc models internationally. I have two of them. One Jawa 639 and this Jawa 354. There are others like the Jawa 634, 638, Jawa Californian, Oilmasters, jawa 554 Libenak, Jawa 633 (Bizon), Jawa 350 Automatic (they sold the technology to Hero for the Hero Honda Street 100 to be made in India.

In India these were all direct imports and quite a few are there. None were sold by the factory here in Mysore.
Yes again. The Jawa was a predecessor of the Yezdi.

Some Trivia: The Jawa 250cc was called "A type". Yezdi Model B was the international "B type" and the Roadking was a "C type". you will notice it on the engine Nos - "B" and "C" type engine numbers start with a B and C and then of course the D 250 classic was the "D type"

Yes Shubhendra, quite a bit of history. Picked up from Bidar, it took me almost 1 year plus to restore the engine to its pristine condition. I have also had to source quite a few parts from abroad to get this done by the way. The vehicle was a non runner since 79 due to paucity of parts and inability of the mechanic to understand how a twin cylinder engine works.

Thanks Karl
None assembled in India as per my knowledge. In fact they were CBU imports which were bought or came in on Transfer of residence

Actually no Ariesonu, I have made the seat slightly thicker than normal to accommodate my taller (and also err.. heavier) frame.
Will take more shots of the engine and post it for you soon.

Yes. these silencers have been rechromed, but I am not happy with the finish. Got myself a couple of brand new silencers from the Czech Republic for this machine.

Re: My 1966 Jawa Kyvacka 350cc

Oh ok. How much did you pay for them? Even I was toying with the idea of rechroming the silencers on my RD 200 during the rebuild, but scrapped the idea as no one could provide the desired quality and finish. So in the end just powder coated them.

Silencer cleaning, chroming and fitment cost me 12k.

Brand new silencers cost me 25k

Sure did. With 3 bikes. Photos of 2 of them are here... the third was a Roadking (feeling left out right now as there were no snaps of that clicked)

Like I said, original seat base, but higher foam. More pictures of the engine close up attached.
