Outstanding Kartik. The commitment to this restoration is unmatched and congratulations on the outcome. Loved watching the progress of the restoration and the cream was the Ludhiana story

The before and after pictures give the true story

Re: Restoration: 1948 Rover (P3) 75-6 Light Saloon

Indeed the car is looking very, very nice. Your attention to keeping it as per original specs is to be commended. Regarding the not go good brakes, my Jaguar (from the same time period) also suffers from the same issue. I have put in new shoes and adjusted all correctly. IMHO, we, the drivers of modern times have been spoiled by disc brakes. In the olden days all cars took many, many feet to stop. Since all cars had similar braking, it was OK. But today, one has to be super careful and anticipate the stopping distances.

Thank you again Sir, you are very right about the brakes and like you said its more about anticipation and practice.

Yesterday being Sunday took the opportunity to take her out for a good drive which was very enjoyable.

First we went to pick some lassi from the famous lassiwala on Mirza Ismail Road.

Further went to Albert hall museum and took a few pictures there.

The car drove very well and is great fun to drive.

Hi Kartik,

I somehow feel that the front bonnet is not right because the front grill is sitting low. I hope I am able to rightly illustrate what I mean

Here are is picture from the net.

The angled bonnet is not matching the squarish shaped car

I am open for correction

KPS,
You are right but the issue is not with the bonnet or the front grill, everything there has fallen in place, the issue is that the car is too high from the back and rear leaf springs have to give way to make it go lower from back and it should then rise from front, we are hoping that after driving her on our great roads for a few hundred Km's it should find the right balance, I hope it works, here is a picture to illustrate.

Restoration: 1948 Rover (P3) 75-6 Light Saloon-dsc05760aa.jpg

Notice the gaps between the tyres and the body in front and back.
However the picture you have posted is a sports saloon and I think they are more squarish, here is a picture of another P3 from the net.

Anyways I am not too happy with it myself and I hope to correct this any which way !

regards
Kartik

Excellent job impeccable attention to detail .

Wonderful looking car, a lot of hard work went into the restoration

But please give thought to what KPS said , may be the body needds to be re-aligned on the chasis by a couple of inches and the radiator raised up

Regards
Chauhan

Re: Restoration: 1948 Rover (P3) 75-6 Light Saloon

The car looks great

The sports saloon bonnet appears to be longer in length. Did it have a bigger engine?

Regards,

Re: Restoration: 1948 Rover (P3) 75-6 Light Saloon

After almost a year long slumber the car has now gone to the workshop for some nagging issues, about which I will update in due course.

Re: Restoration: 1948 Rover (P3) 75-6 Light Saloon

Its almost been an year now at the workshop and the car has been receiving attention in some areas, the engine is now back in the car and runs much better, the vibrations are gone.

On the body front the excessive camber on the rear springs has been corrected as seen in the picture below.

Restoration: 1948 Rover (P3) 75-6 Light Saloon-img_20181221_124444_224.jpg

I have received new front coil springs from the UK and if we still find the car lower from the front, might replace the existing springs as they might be a little too tired.
