Thanks brother for your wishes and encouragement. Let's hope and pray every thing comes out just perfect.

A typical example of original spare part and a fake in identical packing, both seem very close but vary in weight, thickness and height.

Pic 1-> Identical multicolor sticker.

Pic 2-> Identical packing but the balls in fake are packed with caster and bowl whereas in OE it is in saperate packing along with caster and bowl.

Pic 3 -> Difference in weight clear.

Re: Restoration: Renewing my Rajdoot 175 (1972 Model)

How to identify GENUINE 3D hologram.

Most people are duped by 3D holograms that is present on the fake parts packing.

In genuine Rajdoot spare parts packing there are three types of holograms with 'E','EY' & 'YAMAHA' up-front and 'GENUINE' or 'Genuine parts and accessories' behind them horizontally in 3-4 parallel lines. When we slightly tilt the packing "E ","EY" or "YAMAHA" is revealed and further movement reveals "GENUINE" or 'Genuine parts and accessories' with 3D effect behind them but in fake parts generally "EY" is written over GENUINE parts and accessories' and the text dosent creates 3D effect but both glow Similar to genuine holograms.

The hologram with " EY" and 'Genuine parts and accessories' was the most exploited logo by faker's.

I am posting pictures of these logos with first two pictures being original and the third fake.

Re: Restoration: Renewing my Rajdoot 175 (1972 Model)

Finally got all the parts painted in black Dupont Paint. Although it seems that the painter did an exceptional job on this, he said rubbing will be done after it gets fitted fully.

He refused to do Pinstriping, reason it being a lettering painters job. So, it means I have to look around for a good lettering painter.

Posting few pictures of it.

Re: Restoration: Renewing my Rajdoot 175 (1972 Model)

numerouno Very interesting thread - You are doing a great job.

I think your dream is slowly coming true and i hope you will not take way long to rock in Indian roads.

You mentioned you are looking for old model cylinder, Have you got that?. One of my uncle also searched for long time for his Rajdoot, then his mechanic convinced him and ended up by boring same old model.

I'm still using 1986 IND-Suzuki. Experts/mods, Please help me to find good mechanics in Bangalore to restore my bike.

Thanks for your appreciation. I searched 19 States and talked to more than 60 dealers but all in Vain. Some have such bore but used.
However I found a new bore somewhere but after agreeing to sell me the bore the dealer stopped picking phone.
So it's still elusive.

Re: Restoration: Renewing my Rajdoot 175 (1972 Model)

Could not find a good lettering painter and since I was running out of time, decided to do it myself.
Here are pics of the masking I have done for pinstriping.
Although it's still no complete but in process.

Re: Restoration: Renewing my Rajdoot 175 (1972 Model)

I have always been a follower of the restoration stories in teambhp, but this is extra ordinary. Absolutely one of a kind. Building a motor cycle which went out of production decades ago almost entirely from spare parts!!! I have no words to describe your level of passion, patience and determination. Dear Sir, I admire you, salute you and I really wont hesitate to bow down to you if I ever meet you in person.
My father owned a Rajdoot 175 when I was a child. It had served him faithfully for nearly 10 years in some of the worst underdeveloped areas of our state that time. I learned my riding skills on that. Sadly I never got a chance to ride it on a public road because I didn't have a licence that time. My father gave it to one of my cousins sometime between 2000-2001 when he developed some knee problems. That guy abused it for sometime, and then sold it off at scrap rate

thanks a lot for bringing back all those memories, and good luck for your project. Hope to see the bike in all glory soon.

Re: Restoration: Renewing my Rajdoot 175 (1972 Model)

Thanks for your appreciation and support.

I really felt for you loosing your bike in such a manner. These bikes are not just bikes but they are soulmate of its rider. RAJDOOT is known for its faithfulness, it never ditches its rider.

I don't remember much of my dad driving it and me sitting in front of him but still every time when I see it, the feeling I have, can't explain it in word's but I must admit that my elder brother also feels the same way, perhaps more intensely.

So, I have decided to give him the opportunity to do the first ride off.
I have never driven a motorcycle and hope this becomes the first bike I ride upon.

Thanks again for your support.

Cheers!
