numerouno.no1 - Hats off to you Sir.

Rajdoot 175 was the first proper bike that my father bought in early 80's and used it till his retirement in 1999. I did many trips on it and with friends riding newer Yamaha's / Hero Honda's / Ind-Suzuki's, it was always Rajdoot to lead the pack once we encountered broken or no roads because of it's solid build.

Thanks once again for reminding me of golden old days.

Thanks for sharing numerouno the lovely post. I don't even know the nomenclature of half of the parts displayed in your posts but I must say that it requires a great amount of hard work in preparing, collecting and assembling spare parts. This shows the closeness you are sharing with your dads bike.

Thanks buddy. My aim of putting this post is to help all those guys of our generation who don't know an iota of any thing with regards to this bike and at the same time seek suggestions from ace restorers of this forum to do the job in a perfect manner because I am a person who likes perfection, "If its not perfect, its not done".

Indeed you are quite befitting your handle. This is the epitome of love for restoration. A thorough professional record of the restoration - parts, part numbers, wiring diagrams, sources of parts so neatly and modesty presented. This thread will be THE resource for Rajdoot restoration projects. Total Respect.

I used to watch the TV show "Kings of Restoration" on History TV in south east asia, (not sure it is aired in India) and I was always wanted restore "something". This thread is real inspiration.

Coincidence, perhaps. Or undeniable proof for the existence of The Motorcycle God?. Your choice.

From the pic of your dad - the bike sports a non monogrammed tank (teardrop) which was 'clean'. The post 1976 (If i remember correctly) were the ones that came with the chrome finishing on the tank.

My dad used to have a Rajdoot - the same one as your pic (non monogram clean tank) with the 'bazooka' type silencer. I still remember the two stroke sound that it made. Sadly, dad decided to sell it sometime in 1999-2000. This sir - is an inspiration for me as I also look to restore one of these models later!

Absolutely, the USP of old model Rajdoot was its sound & heavy built. It took me around an year to find such silencer (UNUSED OE old stock). Really what one remembers is the boom boom boom sound. Later EY changed these silencer (like the one in pic posted by my friend earlier in the thread) and the sound became thook thook thook. Spares after 1980s also became considerably lighter.
They just killed the bike by changing silencer and putting new type cylinder with clamp type setting which wa s almost a kilo lighter than the old one.

I'm exhausted by just reading your post, I cannot even fathom the pain and effort that went into both building both the machine and this post! Seriously, this is just absolutely incredible! Amazing amazing job brother!

I recently found that on both sides of the main shaft i.e on left side of main shaft and on the top gear, 6005 number bearings are fitted. It is strange, even old parts catalogue sates that 6202 is fitted on left side of the main shaft whereas on the right side i.e on top gear (22teeth) a 6005 bearing is fitted.
following is the exact description of parts catalogue.
Part no Particular Bearing no pcs
00-131-01 Main shaft LHS 6202 1
00-131-03 Main shaft RHS 6005 1

Anybody having knowledge regarding this, pls enlighten?

EDIT: I rechecked, and found everything corroborating with manual. Please ignore this post!

Amazing passion you have mate for an equally good motorcycle. I remember riding on Rajdoot 175 which belonged to a friends' dad. It was somewhat similar to the Jawa Yezdi and two stroke motorcycles of the yesteryears were a bliss to ride on, for enthusiasts of course. This motorcycle has that Eastern European former USSR rugged look. I also restore my motorcycles and know about collecting parts and putting them back together which is a painstakingly difficult process. All the best for the restoration. I will look forward to your thread.
