I see that the thread faded out without any update from last one year.
numerouno.no1 - Was the restoration completed? Do share some videos and pics.

I am highly interested in this project as I am planning to buy a 1973 Rajdoot 175 soon to restore it to an immaculate condition. Will post the pics of the current condition of the motorcycle, as I learn more about replying on Team-BHP. This is my first time replying so not sure if this post will be moderated.

The present status is that the bike has taken shape, engine fitted on chassis(completed with fork, shocker etc).
Only things remaining are:-
1. Nickle chrome plating on handlebar, carrier, shocker dust covers.
2. set up of new wheel(rims, wheel hubs ,worm, brake pads ,bearings, distance bushing)
I am presently busy on some other issues but surely within 2-3 months it shall be completed.

I dont think the thread has faded out. You must also consider that searching parts that too old stock, genuine and unused is quite a time consuming work. Now that I have all items its a matter of weekends and I have sent its parts for nickle chrome plating. Hopefully the restoration will be over before August. Thanks for showing interest in this thread, hopefully you would understand my situation.

My mistake. Being new to team-bhp, I got confused looking at your joining date in May 2015 and thought it was the reply date. Apologies for that. Hope to see your bike ready soon.

I am getting a 1973 Rajdoot for 7000. Not sure of the engine condition. Surely it will require a lot of work. Will it be easy to source the parts with ease? I would be looking for them in Mumbai.

Its bargain price, purchase that but do check for engine condition like gears and shafts, they tend to worn out substantially. I must also add that getting genuine, unused old stock is next to impossible(it took me 2 years & almost 20 states to source them via courier) so they should be in good condition. Although you can get genuine new stock still they are also rare and scarce and mostly fake( Please check previous posts on how to identify genuine rajdoot parts, for this purpose)
One more thing, do a thorough investigation of cylinder, if it is standard or oversized. You will not get this type of cylinder anywhere, so act wisely. Although you can put new model cylinder which is almost same except exhaust clamp system. 70s model cylinder were real heavy duty material which you will not find in new ones despite them being genuine.

Got my parts back after nickel-chrome plating, very heavy duty (the company dose this type of plating for many automotive compaInes). Extremely good quality.

My electrician could not get it right. So, I had to improvise and BINGO!!!! It worked...

Bike build up process in chronological order:-
Part 1- Preparing Assemblies and sub-assemblies.
Part 2- Fixing on chassis.

Part 1

1. Engine setup
2. Front swing arm setup (adding bushings)
3. Rear swing arm setup (adding bushings snd distance)
4. Steering Bowl setup on chassis
5. Steering Caster setup on forks
6. Speedometer assembly attachment on dome
7. Rear sprocket hub assembly setup
8. Main stand (springs) & foundation setup
9. Rear Mudguard bushing setup on chassis

Part 2

1. Attach the front forks on the chassis carefully. Apply SKF AP3 grease on caster, bowl and balls.
2. Fix the main stand and foundation gently by inserting stand pin (collar of the stand bush should be opposite to the foundation).
3. Fix the rear swing arm by inserting properly oiled axle.
4. Fix the front mudguard on swing arm and then attach it on the forks by properly oiled bolts.
5. Fix the hub assembly on the rear swing arm attach chain adjuster before fixing the nut of half axle.
6. Attach rear mud guards (please fix the tail lamp wiring)
7. Attach front and rear shock-absorbers.
8. Bring the bike on main stand.
9. Attach front and rear wheel by inserting axle. Do not forget to fix chain adjuster and worm assembly before attaching rear drum plate stay.
10. Fix half chain guard (bottom) on the engine before fixing it on the chassis.
11. Attach chain and fix the chain guards.
12. Attach brake peddle on chassis and break rod to rear break cam.
13. Attach speedometer on dome and fix it on fork.
14. Attach the handlebar assembly.
15. Attach air filter box.
16. Rear brake switch.
17. Attach wiring harness.
18. Fix Tank.
19. Fix petrol tap.
20. Attach rear carrier and seat.

Just made a slot in the choke lever assembly. As said earlier i am going to modify my carburetor to enable handlebar mounted choke lever system.

Inspired from this thread, I have successfully restored my dad's 1983 Rajdoot Super D, all works done by me except painting and electroplating. It was standing still for almost 10 years, and with an hour's work of cleaning electrical and petrol supply, I could start the bike. Pictures included.
