Rajdoot Bobby/Rajdoot GTS- spares availability

Hello everyone,

I always wonder are parts as expensive and as hard to find for old bikes as much as old cars ? I thought of starting a thread where people who have leads for Rajdoot parts can share them for the benefit of on e and all.

I have the the leads to

1). Front fork assembly with shock absorbers
2). Petrol Tank

in case anyone would need help with these please feel free to contact me.

Regards

Re: Rajdoot GTS "Bobby"

Friends, is it possible to get the Copy of a workshop/service manual and a parts manual for the Rajdoot GTS?

There is one available to which I can have access and restore it.
But currently the bike is in pieces and like a huge confusing puzzle.

Don't even know what parts are missing?
Also, last heard the engine could not be started.

How should I approach the restoration? This would be my 1st classic restoration.
Would like to restore her to original condition once again.

From where can the parts be sourced? I am in Mumbai, was informed Gujarat is a good place to find spares for Rajdoot bikes.

Re: Rajdoot GTS "Bobby"

Hi SRK,

Rajdoot GTS is not that tough bike to restore, parts are also easily available apart from the tank pads, monograms, tail lamp but its is also not that tough, friends here can give you the lead, as you said engine cannot be started so don't you worry about it, approach any Jawa/Yezdi or if you are lucky and get a Rajdoot mechanic your job is done.

Regarding the pile of confusion mark if all the necessary parts are there in spite of that there would be few missing for sure, hence take a mechanic along with you to help you. My advice would be pick up the bike if it is coming at a cheap/reasonable price as they have become rare and expensive.

Im picking up Ajay Biz's Bobby to restore. Fixed the deal and paid the advance too. Bike will be picked by a friend of mine. Needs restoration though. Ajay will be handing over me some spares too.. monograms, tank pads, head light domes, ignition keys etc.

I have collected some spares too.. will start the restoration once the bike reaches here.. Hope its not as tough as our RDs as the engine is a regular Rajdoot 175 one.

What all are different in Bobby? I need info on..

1. Cables?
2. Air Filter- [Hard to find the OE round one thesedays]

As of today, I've collected some spares.. including clutch plates, gear lever& shaft, kicker lever& shaft, Gasket & oil seal kits, Micarb Packing etc. Finding engine spares are not difficult i believe. Today, got a new Bobby sprocket set too.

I couldn't find cables though. They must be shorter in length than the regular Rajdoot 175s i believe.

Bobby uses a Micarb 24mm, same as the older bullet 350cc. Its available easily. New ones. But Bobby is a 2-stroke. How can it run on a 4-stroke carb? What are the jet sizes on a Bobby? Any idea?

Re: Rajdoot GTS "Bobby"

Dear All,
I am planning to restore my GTS, which is lying in my garage from last 10-12 years. i have got hold of mechanical parts, but i need help in cosmetic parts.
1) Headlamp (i fitted Yamaha head lamp, when i was in school to make it look more sporty), need full set with meters. Just a query, is headlamp assembly of Rajdoot bike is similar to GTS.
2) Tail Lamps
3) Tank rubber pads
4) Logo (Plastic made)
5) Wiring Kit
6) Seat hand rail
7) Horn & light switch
Is there any shop in Pune, Mumbai or Delhi from where i can pick these items. Or if someone in this forum want sell, it would be great.

Thanks & Regards,
Shubhendra Singh

Manish:

These are not really white wall tyres. They are some kind of circular add-ons that get attached to the rim.

Not really sure if the original Bobby's came with white wall tyres.

No GTS was ever sold with white wall tyres!
That may be the reason I do not like what I see in the pics.
But the restoration job seems to have been done very well indeed!
