Gentlemen any idea as to which song in the movie 'Bobby' was the GTS featured in. Would help if someone could post a link here from youtube or so.

Dear Suren - I distinctly remember that the movie BOBBY was released in Mumbai (then Bombay) on the 27th of September 1974 in two theatres, Metro in South mumbai and Broadway (which has since been demolished and Broadway Shopping Centre has come in its place) in Dadar TT. I was in my second year in college. I remember standing in a very long ticket queue with my college friends at Broadway to watch the movie. As far as I can remember, the bike was used in the scene where Rishi Kapoor elopes with Dimple Kapadia but I do not think there is any particular song in that scene. Maybe I am wrong, the nearest song which comes to mind is the one sung by Narendra Chanchal. If I am correct, the bike in the movie was blue in colour.

Mr.Behram, thank you for the trivia. It did remind me of my college days and the long lines in theater queues. Am looking forward to catch up with the video at hillram's place this evening and shall be DVD hunting for this movie's video too.

To all: Does anyone have an idea as to which is the city/town in India that I could hunt for the cosmetics for the Bobby. Have tried to no avail at Hyderabad, in the famous spots but have been unlucky in procuring the same.
Any clues on these spares such as the Tank badge, the Tank pads etc., would be of great help.

My GTS has gone in for the restoration and all I could manage in a days work were:

The Ignition switch (non-original, but similar)
The Wiring kit
The clutch plates
The cables (Acc, Clutch, Speedo inner)
The Carb packing kit and Jet

More mechanical stuff will be procured after my mechanic gives me his list.

There is an extremely original Bobby in Dadar with the same guy that has the 20-30 Lambrettas. It is red and presumably for sale if given the correct prices.

Now i am confused as spoke to the owner of this Hydrabad Bobby owner and getting offer of one damn good RXZ 135 also dont know which one to buy and which to leave as pocket is very tight(blame to their big daddy RD350 :( ).Guys need advice(i am open for donations as well .
Or if someone asks them to wait for another month so ill get time for one more salary.

I wanted to post this bobby under restoration long time back.A guy Jinesh is restoring this "bobby" which is 1982 according to him.the Original colour is blood red.but he used a deep orange colour.
The guy seen on the pictures is the "restore-expert" Babu-kka(babu bhai).He is a bullet expert in my town Muvattupuzha.

Jinesh got 6 Jawa motorcycles restored and 2 Yezdis and Rajdoots with him.He is very passionate about restoration ,I think .I hope he can see this post(he tried to visit this forum).

Real nice deepclutch. However, I would suggest he get the cylinder head repainted after removing the previous layers of paint, It definitely does not augur well with the rest of the finish on the bike.

A query I have is, Is this the original seat? I ask this for my Bobby has gone in for a full ground up resto and as I key in this the engine is being dismantled at an Enfield service station. Sadly, my Bobby has been fitted with a TVS Champ's seat. It looks out of place on the Bike and would love to get my hands on a Bobby seat plate.

Would anyone have leads on where I could get the following for a Rajdoot GTS?

1) A Seat Plate
2) The stepney carrier

BTW, are the Wheels (Rims) available? If so, could someone tell me which other vehicle (scooter) uses the same type/size of Rim?

Team,

Had come across a dealer selling 3 Bobbies - was asking for an attrocious price. But perseverance paid off and I have just bought 3 bikes.

Incidentally all 3 bikes are in running order - that means their engines are in order. Have started all 3.

Restoration work has already started on the yellow machine.

Will decide about whether I want to sell the other 2 or keep them.
