This is one extremely interesting thread. Takes me back to my childhood days when we used to drive around in my uncle's black 1100. I was 10 and I still remember how I used to love its loud exhaust note. Was not a very reliable car and my father and an uncle had to tinker under the hood quite often.
My father still drives a Padmini. Prefers something he can tinker with rather than our ECU and sensor driven modern cars.

All the Best

Well, this is surely coming out as a very interesting proccess....

Something, that i used to think about a long time ago when i was a teenager (To get a 1100 D, put in a diesel engine, colour it black, alloy wheels, lots of chrome..... )

Will be following the proceedings closesly as even I am planning to embark on something similar in the near future (maybe in the next 6 months or so).

All the best V-16 !!!!

Regards,
Jaspreet Singh

Just remembered Ram has a lovely 1959 Gran Luce 1200, single owner, original paint etc etc....hehe a scale model anyways....
It is the same bodystyle as yours...thought it might be of interest...
(all pics courtesy Ram....we shot these two for a magazine article that never happened...)

well salil, we thought of welding hand made panels but we have another car of the same type which we found without an engine and the body is sound in parts. So we'll just be using panels from the donor car (whose pics ill put up later) to fit on our car, thus replacing the badly corroded panels

Guys its been a while since I posted the progress.
"FACE OFF"

The 1100 was stripped of her "Face" and it was transplanted on to the donor car (a white fiat of recent origion).

Our Baby With the bonnet of the donor car:

The 1100's Face....

Yes and its welded on the Donor Cars face, Now thats what I call a face off!!

I Think its a neat job.. na??

This is the 1100 without its Face. The Plastic... or should I say Iron Surgeon has accomplished a job very neatly.

Mai kissi ko mooh dikhane ke kabil nahi"

Well, its lke this, The 1100 was far too too rusted for salvage so we had to think of giving her stuff donated by another car. In this case a White Fiat with no engine and a body in quite a good condition. In this case the White Fiat, Herinafter referred to as the "Donor Car" would be giving its body to resurrect the 1100's soul.

This will become....

Like this....

The original Drums (Aluminium) of the 1100 and her Rims will be placed in the Donor Car replacing its OEs
