Thats sad. So the car is being broken? If there is a chance of salvaging parts do let me know.

Cheers

This one's for (the) President!

My 1973 (FIAT 1100) Premier President-pres01.jpg

My 1973 (FIAT 1100) Premier President-pres02.jpg

'happened to see this natina blue(?) President parked outside a supermarket in Secunderabad today just as I'd come out of there. And since it looked quite good, I decided to take a couple of quick snaps.
Its got a 1990 hyd. regn. Incidentally, Karl had seen this very car parked at this very spot atleast 3 times during his earlier trips to hyd.
And if that guy posing so perfectly () with the car makes you think he's the owner, I'd thought so too until I asked him- and while shaking his head to reply negative, he had a queer look that said "as if I'd own a car like this!"
Of course he's not a bird of our feather, so understandable I guess! Nevrtheless he seemed to understand me as well so didnt question me at all on taking the pics. (maybe he liked being in them as well!)

It looks like a very complete/original car barring the Padmini badge, one rear side-trim and the indicators. 'looks like its in daily use, which is why it appears to be needing some attention!

'wasnt able to take any pics. from the left but I saw it had the hubcaps as well as side-trim even on that side all intact.

Located a set of original aluminium number plate lights for President today, OE by Kamew. I already have the taillights at home, plus recently got a set of aluminium side trims, so my President will soon look a whole lot prettier.

Present status of my PRESIDENT

Its been a long time that I haven't updated this thread, so I thought of posting a few recent pics after the complete Chassis, Engine, Suspension, Brakes and Clutch overhaul. Don't ask me how much I have spent, but I can give you a hint that I could have bought TWO FIATS within that budget. However, at this point I must say that mechanically the car runs simply SUPERB and it was well worth it!
The overhauling project was done at my friends workshop where only Super Cars and Hi-end cars are worked upon, and therefore my PRESIDENT felt very PROUD standing out there for two weeks and gaining tremendous attention amongst the rest of the Hi-Fi crowd.
And .................of course all parts sourced very very painstakingly for the project have been OH REE G NAL to the "T".

I am not doing a ground up restoration yet as the interiors are TOTALLY original and I do not want to dismantle or take apart or renew any thing that can last for some more years as Factory fitted originality. The present exterior paint work will get a minor facelift wherever required, including full scraping and oven painting the wheel rims with new MRF whitewalls and chrome wheel trims.

Wow Rony ! She's always been a stunner, and with all the work you're putting in, she drives like she rolled out of the factory yesterday !! I got that feeling when I drove her the other night we met.. Specially when you go over bumps, the muted "thuk" of a brand new suspension is a treat to experience.
You must've spent a bomb on the standox primer alone .

Is that what the chassis/susp. parts are painted in? Wow, looks like actual paint! Is it available in all cities?

Long time fiat fan (newbie here)

Hi guys,

Going through this thread was a wonderful feeling. I own a couple of 1973 Presidents - one has all the original trim and the other one is missing several parts. Accidents and vandals have taken their toll

I am looking for some parts that are probably impossible to find outside of Mumbai.

The things I'm looking for (listed below) are mostly cosmetic but I want to get the cars back to their original state -
- Aluminum front grille
- Aluminum side trim
- the metal tail lights and front parking/indicator lights
- magneti marelli distributor cap and rotor (one of these cars is still running the original distributor).
- the "Premier President" monogram for the boot.

I'd really appreciate it if someone could give me some pointers on where I can find these parts.

SuperSelect/adheesh - could you please tell me more about about the metal tail lights (I read that they were available from someplace called "Sweet Trade").
