re: 1970 Suvega - The latest addition to my collection

Congratualtions Collector!!

Brings back some very fond memories of the rides I used to enjoy on the grandfather's Suvega. A very simple and easy piece of equipment. Sad that it wasnt around till the time I was old enough to ride it though.

Any plans of restoring it?

At present my plan is to only do the minimum work that is needed on it, replacing tyres, wheel bearings, renovating the clutch, decarbonising the silencer and fitting an original handle bar and correct mounts/leavers/throttle [which I already have with me]
I do not intend to paint it as it is still in the original factory paint, nor am I going in for rechroming etc.
I will think of a complete restoration after using it for a few years as the engine has not been opened yet [according to the original owner] and from the looks of the nuts etc this may well be true. It still has the original french rims

Sounds like plan.

Have a great time. Do keep us posted whenever you restore it.

Congratulations sir! Seems to be in good running condition. Please do post some pics of work in progress.

Completely off-topic, but is that a white series Land Rover 110 in your third pic?

I will post pics of the Suvega as and when work is done on it. Other than a slight slipping of the clutch and the silencer being in need of decarbonising the bike is in perfect running condition. I already changed the wheel bearings which were worn out.
The Land Rover is a 1957 series 2 109 LWB. Engine and GB are missing and I am trying to decide what to use as replacements [see my posts in Land Rover Support Group] It has some of the original grey paint on it.

re: The Suvega moped!

Recently managed to pick up a Suvega Samrat 1983. Looks like the bike was left parked in the open for a very long time. Its still on its original paint. It has all the parts on one side of the moped (right side) and the other side is missing things like the monograms, pedal, etc. Missing the entire handle set.

Attaching a picture of the same. The picture is after I downed the engine. It is completely jammed and was a pain to open. All the parts have been procured and restoration will start soon.

Powertwin and others: Please do help me out with reading material/info and pictures of this moped.

Cheers

re: The Suvega moped!

It is basicaly the same as the Suevga Deluxe, with the addition of center tank and tool box in place of the original tank. All the mechanical components are the same for these bikes. I don't have either pics or specs etc but do have some spares and can source other items.. Do let me know if you are in need of any items and I will see what I can do. Do post pics of the restoration.

Dear Pat,
This SAMRAT has nothing more than a standard Suvega, except those cosmetics ( Bike like tank, magneto safety shield, seat etc)
You have almost all the vital parts & guess you have also sourced the missing badges & stuff !!
I don't think you need any technical literature to proceed with....if at all you need anything , I can arrange a DONOR engine
Cheers!!

Re: The Suvega moped!

Here is a barn find!

All original and untouched for 3+ decades. Except carburetor (beyond repair), rest all seem to be sorted.
