Anyone has any idea whether the Landmaster sports the original side valves engine and steering wheel? These are the two most difficult items to find on the old Landmasters.
From the photo it doesn't look like the original steering wheel.

The first 2 things to go on all Landys are the engine and dash. The engine I can understand, the OHV engine is so much more practical, but why would anyone throw out that lovely dash? Beats me.

Oh boy! Karlos, you have a true blue original steering wheel there and the original Smiths meters!
Is this a photo of your car?

Sigh...I wish! This car used to belong to my neighbour, he had it since the 70s. Even went to Nepal in it. One day around 7 years back he decided he was too old to drive (His explanation...he looks 60 to me today!), so he gave the car to the gent who runs the local Hindustan Motors dealership. He gave it to him. Sigh, last month we were chatting and he said I would have gladly given it to you all you had to do was ask me!

So now I flag down every interesting looking car on the road and ask them to give it to me

If you haven't already painted your Landmaster, may I suggest the 'original' frosted peacock blue, or just black. Deep wine colour was never offered on a Landmaster.

I realize the colour selected is not an 'original' one, but we'll try out various options. I am partial to that deep wine after seeing one such car in a movie recently - I fell for it instantly!

Which movie was this? I must watch! To be honest I too am leaning towards this strange bluish green colour, not unlike whats already on the car.
Heres another period choice.

I have never seen one in wine red, though it just might have been offered.

Okay, I'll send you the name by PM though it would be hilarious to watch Karlos Singh Fiatwallah try and make sense of Malayalam.

I agree with you Anirban, the 1100D looks much much better than the 1100R. Somehow the 1100R never appealed to me.

The Landmaster is very good. It needs big whitewalled tyres though.

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar
