The car doesnt have the assembly, start looking for them. Those lenses are the correct size and design, though Indian ones, which do the trick. The original Lucas English items were a dark orange though.

Bodywork is reportedly complete. Meanwhile, I need the following items urgently - any help would be highly appreciated:

1. Isuzu 1.8 Petrol engine (carb version, not MPFI) from the COntessa + Gearbox. Yeah we still havent found an engine.

2. Original Landmaster Dashboard.

3. Original steering wheel and switches.

4. Since Karlos has pointed it out - we will need the taillamp assembly as well.

5. Who does interiors well in Bangalore?

Price for a decent Eng+Gb is around 25k in Delhi but my guy says you will need to do a rebuild on the engine. Also it'll come with the following parts:

1. Alternator
2. Carburettor
3. Starter
4. Ignitor (Don't know full details about this but apparently the Ignition coil of these engines was insanely expensive & this is a work around for that)
5. Water Pump

What the engine will not have is:

1. Air Conditioning compressor & ancillaries
2. Power Steering

About the rest of the things he says they can be found but we'll have to do a trip to Jama Masjid (Chor bazaar) for that. Problem is, I don't know much about these parts so would need an expert to accompany me there. Karloose, what about your Delhi trip man?

engine + GB - I thought Rudra had a steady supply of contessa engines..did you try pinging him? Else lemme know, I can get my mech to source it for you. He got me a sweet deal on my NE eng+GB+AC+brakes. all for 19k

If you want to go the whole hog, you can do stanley for the leather. Desertfox should have a regular guy who does carpets and headliner. If not my mech does. Lemme know.

BTW you are at least 4-6 weeks away from interiors. Have you finalized the seats for the car?

Thanks Prabhu - your offer is the closest (geographically), so I'll be glad if you can find out.

Psycho's looking for an engine too, so that makes 3 in Bangalore.

Interiors include seats, and DF is reportedly doing some research on them.

Was this mystery solved ?

Need to re-do the seat cover for the rear bench on the Sumo. The original bench was quite comfortable with it's shape & contour. But the seat cover has un-done that. Any inputs welcome.

We're looking at getting the interiors and a/c done at Koya's in Coimbatore at the moment. An engine was found for the vehicle, but I've also bought GTO's (one more to the list of TBHPians that have had a part to play in this project!) 1.8 Carb'ed Isuzu engine - one of these will be the primary engine and the second will be a spare. The exact paint shade has also been traced thanks to v1p3r's googling skills and M/s Standox, and it is Toyota's Black Cherry Pearl as seen in the FJ Cruiser.

I have some health related issues in the family as a result of which life is slightly dislocated at the moment - my family may have to move back to India temporarily. Therefore this car isnt really a priority right now, but when it finally gets done it will be here on TBHP first.

There're some updates.
Car is nearing it's delivery. The accessories are all shipped to the place it's now being worked upon.

Keep an eye here!
