I believe the 'ready for painting' phase is over. The car should be ready by tomorrow night, and if all goes well it will join the drive from Bangalore to Coimbatore for the Monsoon D R I V E. Unfortunately it isnt really ready for the D R I V E - interior work is still to be done and will be carried out at some place in Coimbatore (Seats & A/c).

Still dont have an original DASHBOARD or steering wheel, though. H E L P !!!

Update:

Car was to be delivered on the 11th, which was then moved to the 12th evening for Jay to drive down on the morning of the 13th.

Last update received was from Jay that the doors are still not painted - the car is in not yet a car.

I was supposed to be in CBE last evening to wait for the delivery, but there have been no updates since Thursday - so I have delayed departure by a day for no reason.

I will leave today with this job still on the list of unfinished items. My dad's anticipation has turned into jest in the meanwhile and this 'project' is the butt of all jokes in the family these days. I will therefore be visiting RF to make a booking for an Indica Dicor or an Indigo CS Dicor (if available).

Jay - thanks for the offer to drive down and for the regular updates.

Steer..

Do you think slapping four wheels on the body and rolling it down to another workshop/paint shop is an option that can be explored?

No really. Other workshop will take even more time and for every single mistake they'll blame the other.

Steer they have done a good job so far (atleast the pics claim so), give it some more time, i know its personally very frustrating but i think would be really worth it. Changing garage at this point of time will give you more troubles.

No question of shifting garages - that decision point was over a long time back. Rudy is right with his observation, and besides these guys have done a good work on my Dicor whenever I've taken it there (except on one occassion, but there's an altogether different story behind that one). This job just seems to have gotten off on the wrong foot.

I was hoping to close this off during this visit, hence the frustration.

I feel like chopping my Amby dicky off and rounding it after seeing the Landmaster, the dicky shape is soo much better in the Landmaster compared to the normal Amby, and would look great on my Avigo.

Steeriod, I think this project is going to come out fantastic in the end.

Pics received today:

The good news is that the semaphore is working, and the original dash and steering have been found by the garage owner from Udupi alongwith some extra stuff.
