Sad story to read after going through all the pages on this thread. Its a lesson for wannabe car lovers who want to restore beauties believing that someone else will do a good job based on mere mutual trust!
Lesson- we must keep tabs on everything wanted or not wanted during the restoration process.Do not trust the mechanic wholly and depend on him.
I know these lines may seem to be sermons but thats the way it is! any laxity and one pays through his nose.

Why not the name of the garage? A cursory search through the forum will have the names of various dealers of different manufacturers. Why do we allow those names to be published?

Rudra, all a person has to do is to read the thread once again and the garage name and it's address is available in this thread. If it was Ok to be put up then, why does it have to be removed now? Dealer bashing is allowed because it is assumed to be in the larger interest of the community(there are so many threads on this), but one cannot post negative reviews about a workshop, because the owner happens to be a member of this forum and know to some people?

In any case, Steeroid has spent close to 5 lakhs on the car. If the car has not been done to satisfaction, he should be able to voice his opinion. The garage cannot wash their hands away from this car.

When it is negative feedback, it is mudslinging? Come on, we should be able to do better. Good that you have decided to add the names back again. Wisdom prevails, after all.

Steeroid I am 23 years old I literally Cried day before yesterday when i found that my car can't be Driven.

This is the same car on which I had spent 3 Lakhs Rupees,Gave up my full time Job at Toyota, endless days of sleeplessness(nine months till it got on the road),and ofcourse the words and comments of the people around me even some of my family about my morbid obsession with my car

It's Engine Mounting Gave Away and the Engine Tilted While Being driven and hit the Radiator and the Whole radiator was grinded into a pulp exactly at the centre.

In the frustration I Threw a spanner at the car and broke one headlight of my poor baby.

So what am going to do with my car ? well I am gonna spent another One lakh on it and may be one more lakh if required but i am gonna set it right. BUT NOT ONCE AN FOR ALL , Then It wouldn't be an amby would it ?

Yesterday Zak Saw me riding in the rain, today i took a rented car to go to coimbatore life is crappy without my baby. Will set it right.

I was merely questioning the logic behind the decision. I dont get anything from naming the place - am having a tough time taking their sticker off my Safari windscreen as it is.

Appreciate the spirit, dude. Hats off to you. I have felt exactly the same, after lot of things went wrong with my Bullet, despite spending lot of time and energy and going out of the way to put up with idiosyncrasies of the mech. I changed the mech, did some things myself, compromised with the other and decided to move on with life. Did not sell the bike when i came over, preserved it for another day, have lots of memories associate with it.

Oops, I am going here.

Steer, i read the last 22 pages in one go and i could see through the transformation in your feelings. From anticipation and control to excitement to happiness with optimism through out and then the big frustration and anger.

For the money you spent, the garage should have given you completely built and tested car with no issues. Hope the car gets in to fine shape very soon.

Some words..And a travelogue???

MotorSmiths had taken this car for the job with lots of promises. Steeroid had lots of expectations when he left the car there. Most of the details about this can be read on the beginning of this thread. The initial title of this thread itself was that this is a group effort of team-bhpians. Motorsmiths being owned by Desertfox and V1p3r (although he was asked to stay miles away from this car) working there, that itself was a big reason for this title.
Now, after some months and lots bundles spent, the car came out in a barely drivable condition which is not at all acceptable by any standards. And to behave like the customer is all responsible for the mistakes by giving the car for it's job there is the limit of arrogence and unproffessionalism. It would have been great if somebody responsible from Motorsmiths would answer to Steer's complaints or atleast have the decency to face him and attend to his queries. There were lots of instances when his phone calls would never be answered!! Mails would not be replied!! SMSes being ignored!!
Upto such a limit that, if a complaint was made on the forum about the workshop, then there would be sudden responses and hue and cry about that!!! LOL!! The only way to get to those people/make them respond were to raise some voice on the forum against them. And the complaints were always kept hidden by Steer himself as I know well. He had sometimes asked here not to turn this thread into a MOTORSMITHS bashing one.

When some dealership for example, Peninsular honda case etc.. were found guilty, we had so many words against them and we freely expressed it here on the forum. I don't see motorsmiths any different from it. Any respect I had left for them after my Mivec incident is over by now. If they still want to establish themselves as professionals and world class workshop, then they have to rebuild themselves from scratch. As a beginning, they can kick out all the poisonous/bad behaving/unprofessional staffs/advisors working there.

As the discussions carry on, let me try and put on a travelogue of how the Landy reached it's destination from Cochin.

Coming up.... In my next post!!

It has to do with forum rule #6, when something like this happens within the community, it ain't pretty. If angry words start flying from both directions, we will be forced to close the thread. Therefore, keep it clean.

After the car is finished, the customer (or his rep) needs to take it for a TD and make sure he is happy with the work. After that cut the payment. Any garage will also warrant their work for 30-60 days. Was this all done?

Here come the Travelogue!

It was a cool rainy evening. Landy was still giving troubles with brakes and clutch. One not going in and one, not coming out! Ha Ha!!
JayD and A S H V I N took it to the workshop and got it fixed it somehow because the very next day, Sunday the 27th of July, 2008 was this car's delivery and we didn't have another day to do that. Steer was already at his parent's place.

By the time I got home that night, it was close to 4am. And we had decided to leave by 'morning'. I hit my sack around 7am. Snoring loudly and with the coolness of 18 degrees or so, the blanket was feeling heavier and heavier.
Bang at 8:30am (YES!!!), our man with the bold head and thin body, woke up at his residence. For what??? I dunno. He should've just hit the toilet and went back to sleep. I get a call by around 10:00am announcing that it's time to leave.
"Where??"
"LandMaster!! Shornur!!!!"
"Yeah?? Okay"
"Da, please don't go back to sleep!"
"No, I'll get ready"!!!
That's all what A S H V I N explained me. Because, I don't remember anything of that sort. LOL!!

11:30
12:30
13:00!!!! TRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiing!!!

"ZZZZZZAAAAKKKKK"
"Why you screaming man??"
"We've gotta go"
"But it's so early in the morning"
"It's afternoon dude!! 1pm!!!"

Anyway, I was ready in another half an hour or so and got into the Qualis and went to A S H V I N's home and picked Mah1r, Jithen (one of our non BHPian friend) and A S H V I N. We drove straight to Steer's apartment where the Landy was parked. Got into the car park and opened up the Landy.

My Landmaster Project-dscn5992-small.jpg
A S H V I N did all the preliminary checks inside the vehicle and gave me the green light.

And soon, we drove out!
My Landmaster Project-dscn5996-small.jpg
I am in the driver's seat. Reversing out!

Mah1r didn't forget to keep the camera rolling to track each and every move of the car.

Here is it coming out of Steer's car parking.

Before any major thing A S H V I N has to do, he has to give his lungs some beautiful amount of nicotine and tar. So, I had to park the car and wait. Time for more click click!

Soon, it was time to leave.

We leave by around 2:30pm or so. And we didn't think about a lunch or something. I had actually forgotten my breakfast too. Call it as excitement or whatever!!!

Not a travelogue, Delivery I mean!

The title should've been DELIVERY!!
Yes, the Landy was on it's way to it's home. We were driving it to deliver the car to Steer.

The drive went ahead smoothly and we chose a less polluted, less trafficked road. So, we got lots of more beautiful pics of the Landy on the way.

More pics!

Brakes!!!

Yes, it was giving us trouble again and again. Sometimes, after a hard braking or so, this thingy used to get stuck! The pads would then burn itself to some great Tandoori kababs. Then, we used to stop, wait, pour water and get the thing cooled down before we move further.

My Landmaster Project-dscn6035-small.jpg
Anything wrong at the engine side???

My Landmaster Project-dscn6037-small.jpg
No!! Here lies the problem.

More!!!

There were lots of admirers for the Landy thru out the way. We were once overtaken by another avid Landmaster fan on the way.

My Landmaster Project-dscn6056-small.jpg
First they chased us!

My Landmaster Project-dscn6057-small.jpg
Then finally caught up with us!

My Landmaster Project-dscn6058-small.jpg
Then they overtook us. And while doing so, he requested us to stop for a while.

My Landmaster Project-dscn6059-small.jpg
He came out and we discussed some time about this car.
He was amazed to see the body finish (who will not!!!) and wanted to know more details. I didn't reveal the financial part and want him to run away. I told him it is my friend's car and I am taking it to his place. We exchanged our contacts and we split off!

My Landmaster Project-dscn6060-small.jpg
All the while, his family waited in patience. Man!! true Ambassador family.
