here's some pics from HRH The maharaja Of Udaipur's Ponton. In my opinion this is the most original ponton existing in India.
Its a 1956 180D

this seems to be the only other known 1956 Ponton still on the roads in India.

notice the small tail lights used in the pre 57 cars. And the horned License plate lights typical for the early pontons.

Well... IMHO i think the blue ponton is one of the best restored and original pontons in India... if only "The Owner" were not so modest...

And thats him getting the prize for it....now who can this be??...Amol do you know him??...

Oh absolutely...I had a spin recently, she is terrific! Complete with twin spare wheels, original manuals, every switch and button working (there are so many of them!). Plus, every Indian's dream come true, 18 ka average

Karl my pleasure, always ready and willing to brave even the Poona traffic to take a fellow enthusiast around in the car. Gogi buddy you missed the ride, negotiating the car in poona at 8PM is one helluva experience.

I assume you speak about the upturned boot badge. But what about the painted bumpers? That makes two.

Yes sir, thats what I was referring to. The painting must have been a quick fix alternative to chroming the bumpers. The car was to be used as the vehicle for a newly wed couple at the church!

yup this is absolutely the last ponton model a "190b" (c and d came only in a 180), probably 61 or so from the rear tail lights and ugly bumpers. i prefer the early thinner bumpers which came upto 59.

There are quite a few Pontons that are in better conditions tucked away in some not so known corners of Karnataka.

Here's one in Mysore in its final stage of restoration.

I cant use the word "Better" unless I have seen both cars personally. That why i use the term "One of the best.."
But Pavan, knowing your eye for detail, im sure the white one is also pretty good. It does look good from here but is missing the windscreen chrome beedings and a few other bits. Guess that will be done on final completion.
