Well, the door handles are with me, look at the attached pics

Also, Byas, I have the ORVM's, but the mounts are not available, and i dont know where to source them.
Good to see you have the original handles. The ORVMs mount on the door hinge pins and need the pins that are designed for it. These are avail. Let me check.

Secondly try to Look for API SJ or SL or SM service class oils. API SG and SH are kind of obselete.

Similarly for Diesel Engines API CI4, which is latest. CF4 and CH4 are normally available.

Newer classification have better oxidation protection, protection from high temperature engine deposits, foaming, acid formation, sludge control and rust and corrosion protection.
Shell should be ok as well.

BTW, one of the differences between oils formulated for petrol and for diesel engines is that the Diesel oils have more detergents. So, vintage enthusiasts will sometimes run a diesel grade oil to help clean out the engine. I've done that on my VW and on the spider -- ran with Diesel for about 1000-1500km and then switched back.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply Byas.

You know, when i started my Beetle project 10 yrs ago, i had not seen ONE Beetle in front of my eye, and those days, internet knowledge was too low, since i never had an internet connection.

So i could only restore the car with whatever available information i could gather. But on the present day i can vouch by saying. "i can buy any spare available for the car" but getting the car to that level of detailing will only be possible with "BUG owners like you"

I have all the energy and enthusiasm to take my car restoration to a different level from now. I am at half mark, will take time, but will certainly do it.

Will be grateful, if you can get me those Mirror mount. I have the pin and the thread on the hinge, but the part on the mirrors are not there.

And also, if you can get me a used Blaupunkt Radio for the Bug (I dont mind if its not working also)

Thanks in advance.

I got in touch with him, Thank you.

But, he has it without the faceplate. And its useless without that

Let me search for the faceplate and then get back to him, since the price is too high for as is condition.

Pavan,
What you need is these 2 parts:

http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/518469.jpg

But, these don't seem to be avail. You may need to buy an old broken part and get the bottom pieces from them. Here's one ad on Samba:

Pavan, these are available in Singapore from the same shop where I bought the mirrors from, but he is running out of stock at the moment and has promised to find one for me.

I am in Singapore and Thailand next month will look out for them, or if some one can give us a sample, we could get them fabricated here.

Regards,

Srisha

Yupdates and updates.

9 years after restoration, i moment has come.

I had got a temporary upholstery on the Beetle, since i did not find a competitive upholstery guy to get me a original design.

Found him just 24 hrs back.

Today evening i call him home and start work on the roofing

This job @ Rs.3500/- is pricier by 35%, but i have got lot of good reviews from lot of Vintage and classic car owners.
