We had a great drive yesterday with about 10 VWs driving across Bombay for a great breakfast

Picasa Web Albums - Kiran - Bombay VW Rally#

Gogiji's Golf and Harit's Karmann Ghia couldn't make it, and I decided I wasn't ready to drive to Bombay in my Beetle in the monsoon, so it was Alto lets go, with moralfibre graciously giving me company. The Shirkes (randomusername) were out in full force with their Bug and Bus, a pristine Herbie (#53) and a Herbie knockoff (#52!) added colour, as did the Rockford Fosgate pimped out red Bug. 2 Baywindows were a welcome addition, also present was 67bug with his accessoried...well...67 bug. Was good to meet ace shutterbug TBHPian fatal3rror after a while too. Looking forward to his pictures here.

Good company, great cars and superb food at Mondegar's made for a great morning. Till next time then, and I'll be with my Bug for sure!

Wonderful pics! Am sure that the VW team has had a good time.

BTW, AFAIK, the orange bus is owned by the Solankis.

The orange van belongs to Solanki, they have participated in this van in a VCCCI event before. The orange combo is a typical colour scheme of the era. Harit was kind enough to invite this new participant.

This is a thread of 2008, suddenly revived by 67bug. When I saw this I requested Karl to call me if there is any VW event. Sure enough, a call came a few days later. I intended to take the Karmann, but due to sloppyness she was ready one day later.
Anyhow, I told Solanki and he came with his orange bus.
We enjoyed the outing, this was very similar to the FCCCI outing which I had once attended. All friendly, no hang-ups, no entry fee and a good breakfast. And we all got along swell. Karl came all the way from Pune with moralfiber, and they left immediately after breakfast.
I am sure that there must be around 50 bugs in Mumbai, if there is an event again November onwards I will do all from my side to get atleast 10 more bugs to participate. The difficulty is that many have been packed off because of the rains. And some were not aware. Frankly, I crashed in as Karl informed me, and I felt welcomed.

Cheers to many more VW runs!

The green car, GDA 1523 is really impressive - such a pleasant green too (he could get a more suitable gear knob though). When will the bugs of Delhi unite for such drives?!

It really looks good doesn't it? I never would have thought an early bug could pull off a bright parrot green.

That same gear knob is in my Bug too, but thanks to the Prince of Sardar's, I now have a lovely correct looking ivory piece.
