Today morning i receive a call from the painter " Saar 3 rd coat over saar.. please get the dashboard and other small parts to be painted "

I hurry with all required parts to him thinking 3rd coat means painting over, But but... there's still 3 more coats left to be done. He's very precise at what he's doing and uses old school methods, But so far his work on the Merc boy is noteworthy.

Very soon, it'll move out from the present place to the electrician.

Some pics of its present state.

Brat i dont know how you are going to finish this piece.
Because i know, the word Mercedes means Elegance and Class.

Restoring something thats as bare as this is one mind wreaking job.

Lets see how you'll come through.

The next set of pics available and will be posted soon.
If after restoration you feel like owning a orginal owners manual in the glove box look out for me. Also I have an original 240D 1984 in almost the same condition you are welcome for a visit. I still have the origional first aid kit in the first aid box located in the rear window.

hello there,
heres some info about the W110 series cars. i took a look at the pictures that you posted and i noticed that in a picture you clicked with the doors fitted showing the line, yeah? in the W110 cars the line that runs from the front fender until the rear quaeter panel will be almost straight, in your car the rear side of the car has dipped (a common problem with these cars) its due to the rusting of the floor that joins the boot and the rear seats. when a patchworker repairs the rust the rust is repalced with good metal without lifting the rear. so try to get that done before the final coats. dont worry it wont ruin your exisiting paint as work is only dont underneath.

Hi Pawan,
Msaudf is right. Please look at the photo above and you will see that the line from the front to the rear is disturbed after the rear door. This is a very common fault on repaired fintails and 114/115. Since you are making such an effort, please get this rectified. This Merc with a clean body line looks like a million dollars.
All the best.

Cheers harit

Hi Brat & Kadam,

Very interesting read! Just when I was falling off the edge with anticipation, suddenly the road ends? What's the latest? Is it done and ready? Pics? Updates?

Present updates.

1) Paint done
2) Electricals 90% done, taking long time since we are laying the loom as per the original layout.
3) Fittings 50% complete.

Pending is upholstery and tyres.

Looks like the car needs one more coat of paint finally after complete restoration.
