Well....Do you have this car with you now or do you just have the pics ??????. Well I can add a lot more to the history of this car, as to when the engine transplant was done and why it has a fibreglass bonnet.
This car belongs to CK jinan of Chandrika soaps and has been with him for over two decades and you should be able to see it in Indiranagar. I will be rebuiding the engine of this car very soon as soon as i get a few other projects out of the way.

Is this the same car that was raced a lot and busted its original engine?

I'm not sure. My cousin bought it from Kari I believe -- so it may well have been -- and the engine has been replaced. Bobby would know more of the history of the car.

No this car was not raced and the transplant was done as we had the twin cam engines being developed for racing hence the spare engines. Once the racing was finished this was an ideal car to have it in. The original engine is still good and is running in another spider at CBE.
Like i said in my earlier post this car belongs to CK jinan and in all likelyhood will never change hands.
Once i find time you will see this twin cam in all it's old glory.

This car belongs to my relative CK Jinan. He gave it to me to use/restore earlier this year as he knows that's my hobby and the car was sitting unused. Once I got some basics sorted out, i used to drive it to work (which is where I showed it to moderator ajith). I have to admit, driving a left had drive car as a daily driver is a bit challenging in bangalore's traffic today.

Sadly I had to return the car once the rains started as i did not have covered space for 2 convertibles (our PM residence has only one garage0 and I was in the midst of redoing the top on my 71 vert. (Plus, I'm actually living in HK now for a couple of months).

Jinan also has a rollcaged Dolphin with a modified escort engine which he used to race. I remember going with him to sholavaram back in the 80s to watch him race. I think the team he was in was called Super Speed. He also raced a fiberglass bodied Morris Minor -- don't know what happened to it. And Karivardan used to bring a microlight in his big chevy van that he would fly around. Good memories -- I have the pics somewhere.

I really havent asked for the original engine and it is with a friend of ours and i am not too sure of jinan would ask.

The dolphin that you mention is currently with me and the engine and mechanicals are being rebuilt by me and i should be completing them (engine and brakes are done ) as soon as i am through with some personal preoccupation which is taking all of my time now.

Dear all, in case you may have missed, please see the first picture on page 1. The headlight on the Spyder is the CIBIE CONCAVE. Believe me, these are the best reflectors I have ever used in my life (the Lucas TVS assymetric come a close second, nothing else comes close). I used them in my Jeep in the 1983 Himalayan Rally. In that year, they were available in a shop called "Anand Traders" in Avantikabai Gokhale Marg (Opera House) for Rs.900 a pair. Then the price went down to Rs.750 a pair. Maheshbhai of General Auto Electric & Traders literally cajoled me to pick up a set saying "pachi nahin malshe" (you won't get them afterwards) but I did not have Rs.750 at that time. Then the price shot up to Rs.3000 a pair and I had only myself to blame. Maheshbhai was correct. Now they are nowhere to be seen. In desperation, I finally picked up two lenses from Chor Bazaar and fitted reflectors in them but it did not work out. Sad but true, those days are long gone.

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

Not really because we still enjoy our Premier Padminis ( although not long for me) and hunt for rare Original things.
