Just for information, the Italian Altisimo numberplate lights are original to the Italian Delight shaped Fiats imported in India. This car should have aluminium tail lights from PA.

Spot on, I thought I could get away with that . And then many componets including engine are of PP. But then the owner has the original components with him at his home.

Another interesting thing I saw was that the taillights from outside appear to be aluminium and of the correct profile however, the interior shot has UNION (which was a non-preferred, non-original repro) stamped on it. Maybe somebody has just swapped the electrical components off the union tail lights on the original aluminium body.

Cyrus have you been to my resto thread. I am also trying to do a clean car. As for mechanicals, well I can never reach the perfection that you have on your cars.

OMG!!! This is INSANE!! First Herald/Standard 10 'jeeps' and now this!!

'wonder why he chose a Fiat at all, which is a monocoque car, so there is no separate chassis to build another body!!

I hope the original body and parts could be salvaged atleast??! Did you try to, manish, since you seem to have been seeing this car all along during the entire process?

PS: should this really be in this 'restored fiats' thread? I think it deserves to be in a thread like 'SOPs for vintage cars' that sheds light on their plight!

Onother sad story, the engine is replaced with 118 NE, wheels will be changed with that of jeep and other original mechanical stuff with PP or other cars stuff.

As for the Body the customer has given it to mechanic, he plans to have a PP or PP S1 Mechanicals . And keep the car.

I came across this Super Select, with quite a lot of original parts. Note the original Magnetic Marelli Ignition Coil and the Fiat Brake fluid reservoir in plastic???

Here is a neat 54/56 Millecento that I shot a couple of weeks back in Pune. A friend has seen it on the expressway to Bombay too.
