My compliments on such a lovely looking car. I used to see this colour on a few 1980s Padminis in Pune growing up. That green faced speedometer is so nostalgic, and so hard to come by now. I appreciate that all model correct fittings are retained, and no extra unnecessary parts added. Do keep a look out for the all metal key, without the plastic cover. I think that Jay/Godrej units were available in older shops. Did your car original come without a side indicator? Is it indeed a 1978 or perhaps a 1975/76 I think

Please do share some pictures of the car before restoration as well?

Wow what a beautiful car, truly nostalgic. After a long I am seeing this colour. kudos for maintaining it this way.

Is the upholstery original colour, I understand it has been re-done some point of time.

This car was lying neglected for a long time and was bought back to life 10 years back. Unfortunately, this car is running a Maruthi engine, and interiors are fully modified.

The Team-Bhp Forum has been a unique platform to document the classics cars restoration and the restoration threads here provide a wealth of information for Bhpians and Readers who aspire to restore Vintage/ Classic cars.

With this thread, I intend to consolidate the best of FIAT 1100 / Premier Padmini cars restoration threads of this Forum which will be a one stop reference for anyone looking to restore a FIAT 1100 starting from 1954 till the last of the Premier Padmini in 1997.

To start with, below are the various FIAT 1100 and Premier Padmini cars models manufactured in India by PAL.

• First came the Fiat 1100 Millecento from 1954 to 1955 with the three slated grill.
• Then came the Fiat 1100 Elegant from 1956 till 1957 with the center light grill.
• In 1958 came the Fiat 1100 Select and in 1962 came the Fiat 1100 Super Select with a different grill and quarter glass.
• From 1965 to 1972 came the Fiat 1100 Delight(Same shape as Padmini).
• For little over a year came the Premier President in 1973.
• The Premier Padmini came in 1974 till sometime in 1997.

All of the above FIAT 1100 and Premier Padmini cars had the same 1089cc engine with minor tweaks in the various components configurations and engine power.

Minor Correction. In 1958 the Fiat Millicento (not the dukkar Millicento) was introduced and in 1959 only the Fiat Select came. There are 3-4 minor differences between these 2 models which has been pictographically explained by Karl Bhote in another thread

Nice thread. I used to stay in a different town during my 12th days and my landlord was an avid car enthusiast in his 70s. He had a black Fiat 1100 NE with centre light. I had no idea that it was from 1956. I thought it was 30 or something year old car. Kudos to that man for keeping that car in pristine shape. I'll definitely visit and get a photo whenever I'm in that town.

A very happy morning to note the return of the 1988 Premier Padmini BLL 4919 to the THE CYRUS & DARAYUS DHABHAR COLLECTION!.

Bhpian Cyrus43 who is the Son of Behram Sir posted a reel in Insta informing that BLL 4919 is back in his collection.
