Yes huskies are rare in India, but a few have been around, as this one obviously is. I used to own a 250cc Husqvarna motocrosser during my college days in Poona in the early 80s, alongwith a KTM and few others, before moving on to the Jap brigade. I think Husqvarna bikes is now a BMW group company, used to be Swedish ownership back then, and in the late 80s was bought by Italian Cagiva (MV Agusta).

Oh yes, it has a Novo Hub's, it was launched in 1953 and 1954 as Novolette with 40cc and 44cc in 54, the frame is rock solid and not rusted or deteriorated till date, it was half grounded for a decade which is why the rims have taken a toll, its shaft driven and in the front is a Dyno hub with Rod brake

I'm sorry, it appears chain+belt driven to me from here. Or am I missing something?

Edit:

And the electricity-generator hub seems to be in the rear too. Or is that the rear wheel-braking system?

Re: Looking for classic mopeds

I was offered a Sportiff moped. I am not sure if it came with footrest or pedals (as marked). The electric start is working fine and the tyres are new with FC and insurance up-to date! I am seeking the experts to comment on its originality and a valuation for me to offer!

Thanks and Regards

Vathsa

Hello,

You have a beautiful sportif here. It looks pretty much original from outside. You have got the original speedometer, handle lock, tail light etc.. The paint and chrome looks neat. Sportif came with the option of pedals and kick start along with an electric start. What you have here is a kick start version with the right kicker in place. All you need is OE blinkers, and couple of decals, thats all looks to be missing. They say the sportif used to return a mileage of 80 kmpl in its days and excellenet riding even for 2 people. And you also say that self start works so it cant get any better than that. With all documents updated and new tires it becomes a precious buy. I am assuming he wont let it go for less than 16-17k. And that would be a fair price. Its a superb moped with lots of good stuff in it. I grew up riding this one. Lot of fond memories associated with it. Dont let it go brother.

Regards,

Priyadarshan
