The 65 cc Peugeot Sportif that was launched in the early 1980's was one of the best looking mopeds to be sold in India. Its deluxe version cost Rs 6500 in those days when the TVS50 sold for Rs 4800 and the Luna moped was available for Rs 4200.
The Sportif had a battery, indicators, self starter, alloys and looked very chic in the silver colour.
The manufacturers M/s Chamundi Mopeds, Mysore wound up soon reporting losses and thats how the Sportif production in India stopped. Peugeot has not had any success with their cars too in India.The 309 bombed.

@girish,

For silver plus, I believe chennai is the best place to get those lights. I had the same moped later modified by Enfield engineers to 3 gears with tranny from explorer. And thus it became a floor shifter. The remains of the vehicle are still with me (hope I have the original but broken Headlight also), I had put on a Rx 100 light on to it.

Off topic, but why did the Peugeot 309 bomb? It was a very neat and good car, ask anyone who owned one. The answer was in the attitude of the company. Basically it was run by Premier, and they had not yet go used to selling cars and maintaining a relationship, good service, parts supply etc. Premier Automobiles were manufacturers of cars, the Premier cars, but did not sell them. They distributed them. There is a difference, so when they had to sell, they could not. Padmini's which came to the show room were often not finished properly, if you pointed this out it was take it or leave it! Then Premier and Peugeot had a dispute and Peugeot walked out. Thereafter the remaining cars were auctioned off, some very cheaply and that was the end. No parts supply, and parts became very expensive in Opera House spare part shops. And Peugeot do make nice cars.
GM with the Opel Astra has also abandoned all Astra owners, service suport and parts supply is pathetic.

Girish: I has an assorted small collection of Silver Plus/Explorer parts. I have the headlamp lens of the explorer but not sure if it is the same as silver plus. You can have it if itz the same and rest of the Silver Plus parts too. Let me know if someone is there in Bangalore, I'l send it through them.

I don't know which moped is this but as the rear wheel hub covers almost 1/4th portion of the wheel, it looks like it is a moped from around 1960's. See the pics of old Suvega posted by trammway, that Suvega has a same kind of wheel hub & that one is from 1962.

Is that a Raleigh RM? The rear mudguard looks like it. I would be wrong though.

Amol, its great man that you are looking to restore it. But please try to find out what is its make ???
I don't know any Indian moped manufacturer that has ever used SACHS (Germany) engine for their moped.
