I don't know any Indian moped manufacturer that has ever used SACHS (Germany) engine for their moped.
Yeah see what research I have done for some days now Sachs supplied engines to atleast 2 dozen if not more small manufacturers and I have gone through atleast 700 odd pics online but could not find a match.

@ the mole,

same case with me. I have also searched pics of SACHS Moped, but its totally in vain as none of them matches with the pic that you have posted.

(The pic of moped that I have posted is having some resemblance with the pic that you have posted)

They distributed them. There is a difference, so when they had to sell, they could not. Padmini's which came to the show room were often not finished properly, if you pointed this out it was take it or leave it! Then Premier and Peugeot had a dispute and Peugeot walked out. Thereafter the remaining cars were auctioned off, some very cheaply and that was the end. No parts supply, and parts became very expensive in Opera House spare part shops. And Peugeot do make nice cars.
GM with the Opel Astra has also abandoned all Astra owners, service suport and parts supply is pathetic.
Off Topic again We still have a Peugeot 309 diesel, runs like a rocket and gives 22 km to a liter.

Cheers

@ Karl,
The moped which Amol is talking is not at all a Laxmi as,
1. Laxmi Moped used to have KGP (Kirloskat Ghatge Patil) developed Innocenti 2-Stroke 49.6cc engine. KGP doesn't used SACHS engine at all.
2. Laxmi Moped doesn't used to have a fuel tank at the front, its 2 ltr, fuel tank specially fabricated to fit lower the seat.

Here is the link in which Mr. Rao from Chennai has been showcased in THE HINDU

The Hindu : Metro Plus Chennai / Wheels : My dear Laxmi

Interesting, I stand corrected. I haven't a clue about these things as I really don't care too much for them. I simply said what the owner told me it is. Thanks.

My younger Bro had Kinetic Swift, bought in 1989 and sold in 1991, Honda Cub is there in my native Bhilai with one old chap and i dont think so he is selling that moped at any cost.
