Well, for everyone's reference i am posting pics here. it is a maruti800 door switch fitted under the bonnet. From the picture you can easily guess the location of the arm/disarm switch :-). Hope this will be helpful.

BTW what is the switch fitted inside called? I know it is a toggle switch but what do the spare part dealers call it.

i need the black hub caps of the Padmini - i cannot source it in Kolkata. Can someone send it to me and I will pay in advance. My car's refurbishing work in progress: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indiancarpicture-527.html

Here is the pic of the hub cap i am talking about (Pic: Mr. Dhabhar's LHD FIAT)

Second Issue:

The mechanic says that if i want to fix the Closed Type Radiator (with overflow tank), I need to buy a Thermostat and a new Fan to work with the new radiator. Can i use the original fan along with the Closed Type Radiator? Also do i need a thermostat? I guess he is talking about an electric fan with motor!
A full pictorial help will be great.

Thanks in advance.

Incorrect. The S1 sealed type radiator with Degassing tank can also be used with the mechanical fan but vice versa is not true since the shroud of the electrical fan would not fit on the standard radiator. I would suggest you to use the original standard radiator currently present in your car with the filler end removed (Just heat it with a welding gun, the solder will simply melt) and sealed with connections for degassing tank which can be salvaged from a S1.

Hope this helps.

PS: I am attaching a photograph supporting the above from Mr. Dhabhars LHD. This car has the radiator from the AC Deluxe Premier Padmini

Adheesh Parelkar

It is better to stick to original radiator of padmini rather than going for alteration for sealed type radiator. My S1 had problem with faulty thermostat switch. I tried M800 switch, but it fail to perform good in a Padmini.

So I altered as below.

Press the button located on lower left corner using bolpoint pen or something like that, it will move minute hand forward. that's the only way to set the time. AFAIK, there's no way you can rotate anti clock wise.

Pradip.

Wow! Interesting question. I too look forward to the answer for this. My S1 nor the NE clock works. Till date, i have seen only 1 car with clock working. Have seen atleast 20-30 where the clock doesnt work.

Hey Karthik you are scaring me. I bought this meter just for the sake of an internal clock. If it doesn't works, probably will have a run to the scrapyard again.

One more thing which i want to know is that, the clock on the meter(the pic is posted above) can be adjusted when it is connected to the car or can the time be adjusted without powering the clock.

You can, but thats a little tricky. You can connect battery (-ve) to one of the screws you see in the backside of the meter. Power each pin one after the other and see on which pin the clock works. But the best and harmless way to do that is to open the 6 or 8 nuts on the rear side and remove the clock from the instrument cluster. The +ve and -vew leads for the clock are clearly visible. Now you can peacefully check the clock.
