Karl the easiest way out is get me the engine no and I will let you know what is the cc of the car. Everysome seems to be guessing and that will confuse your freind further.

If we knew the number that would have been done right in the beginning. It has been filed off and changed.

Yesteryear's actor Raj Kumar (of Jaaaniii fame) used to drive a similar looking variant in the eighties. He was a regular sight on Mumbai's Pedder Road.

IIRC, this car was put up for sale here around a year ago, alongwith another similar car in beige colour. That was in quite a bad condition though.

VW VW.

This Fastback has got 99.9% originality left in it, a really nice car.

Nice to see someone taking care of it and restoring it to original glory.

And more over Shareef Saab, i know the kind of cars you like to have, no guesses on how good this Varient will come out. Best of luck.

About the documents! no comments...........if you really like that car.

I don't think this same car was posted here - can you share the link?

Imperial.s.a, all the best for the restoration, keep us posted. The Fastback should be quite collectable today.

Perhaps you didn't follow me.

The car has a changed engine. The original engine number is stamped onto this changed engine. We sinply want to identify what type of engine it is, whether 1600cc or not.

Doubt if you would be able to source one in India. Visit thesamba.com and you should be able to import one in a good shape. Being a LHD I am sure there may be plenty available.
