@inderpalgill -- your info is incorrect.

(a) The supers were offered with a 1300DP AND 1600 DP. And in Italy there was also a 1303A ('73 on) which was 1200cc to fit within the tax laws. In the US - only the 1600 size was offered so perhaps the source of your confusion. Elsewhere the "S" indicated the larger engine size.

(b) The 1303 series supers started in Aug '72 ('73 model year)

Hmmm.. just looked at your garage. I wish I knew this a few years ago. I sold of two 180 D engines with a gearbox, having bought them in 1990 to fit into a petrol jeep.

How unfortunate! I would have loved to have picked them from you.I ovehauled my engine this year. Besides that I do have a spare head for my car. Still looking for a new crankshaft though.

Yes very unfortunate. I had bought them from a Parsi friend Yezdi Shroff who lived at Tardeo. One to use and one as spare. He was emigratiing to Australia then. I kept them for so many years but had to finally get rid of both to make space in my garage. I kept the oil filter as a souvenir. It was the first time I came across one like that. What a great idea. If only my motorcyles had one like those.

Indrojit, the car was parked in Gariahat a few days ago and its looks were revealing that some eminent restorer has done the work. And I thought of posting the images as soon as I landed at home here in Nagpur, to get the mystery resolved.
Thanks for the revelation.I saw the better images in your thread under reference.
