if the last baywindow you have just mentioned was in such unrestorable condition why did 2 guys who are known to you approach the seller for it.
of course it has a lot of parts missing, but it is very much RESTORABLE and also the most important unlike many so called "RESTORED baywindows"' it has clear original documents and original engine .It is actually a KOMBI .
I have seen the photos of the vehicle

If we are talking about that bus being restorable, lets talk about.

1) All seats
2) All glasses
3) Both Bumpers
4) Complete chassis build up
5) Complete re-build
6) Complete engine overhaul
7) 10 years tax pending
8) Complete wiring
9) Strip down paint job
10) Most importantly get the front curved windshield- Never possible to source across the country.

Buyers known to me have approached the dealer who's selling the Bus, but at that price all the above 10 commandments to be followed, is not Done.

1.first understand this particular 238 series bus came with only 2 seats in the front as per my info being a SO edition intended to carry perishable goods etc and there was headliner only over the drivers cabin.
I dont dispute the works regarding items 2 to 6,that is why I mentioned that there is lot of work to be done .
7.This was a INDO GERMAN project car and hence had a tax waiver till 2008 when the vehicle was auctioned off. so only less than 2years tax is only pending.
8 and 9 -usual for any major restoration work.
10.Tell me where will you get NOS genuine VW glass for any bus/bug in INDIA.many in this forum sources their parts from west/SE.so it is not a big issue.of course people who use ZEN carbs, tata ace cables etc should not take it as a big hurdle
regarding a curved windshield, recently a bus was scrapped here and its glass is available
Price: The seller as far as I know is an engineer and is not a dealer and he has quoted a reasonable 85000/- for it which in the above circumstances is not too high, because I know of people who are ready to pay Rs,35000./- just to get a good RC of a bus without much tax dues.

Back after being out and away (even from a computer) for 3 days and as a good addict first opened my gmail account and tbhp. These posts left me speechless. Only 3 convertible bugs in Mumbai? Come on there are many more!!!

Have all forgotten Babloo??
The mysterious but original convertible being restored by Anup, she is to come out hopefully next year and has been used as a template to build another for a prominent Bug collector.

Cheers harit

That is not fair dear sir. Your cars and we only get to see them covered.

Come on you can do better than that. In fact we deserve better than that.

Please pull off the covers and take new snaps and post them for the enjoyment of all on this forum.

Here are a few pictures of various VW cars I c;licked in and around Hyderabad.

The type three was a square back chopped into a convertible, pity.

The red car is in great shape, belonged to a friend and the green one was with another person I knew.

Does anyone know where theyse cars are now ?
