1989 Volkswagen Jetta Diesel

This is regarding an Original 1989 Volkswagen Jetta with a family friend. Guess i have discussed this on thread before. Did not have the pictures of the car then. Apparently, the car has come with a sort of lifelong corrosion resistance warranty from company. Doubt if the current Jettas come with such warranty. The car is in good condition and has all the original trims in place. The interiors are like the Fiat Uno, guess was the norm during the cars of that era. The quality of materials is however better. It gives him a mileage of 19kmpl on Mumbai- Pune runs. The owner sadly wants to part with the car (family pressures).

Wow! Look at her! She looks in fine condition! The lights, the bumper, all in ship-shape! The paint job looks fab! Had she been recently restored?

Dude, that is my Bus Not a sad mishap, a small short circuit leading in electrical meltdown.

That day i had taken my Bus for work, after driving extensively for over 100 kms that day, while returning back home, this mishap occured.

The Bus is running fine now after replacing a new distributor.

My workshop guys are extremely careful about intruders, hence owner details not given.

Oh I see it was your bus, should have guessed it earlier, because my friend had mentioned that it was having a Maruti Zen carburretor instead of the usual 31/34PICT SOLEX carburretor

Calcutta - Volkswagen

I was visiting the Scottish Cemetery just south of Park Street close to Mulak Bazar (where they scrap the cars( and saw this Volkswagen being pushed in that direction. Didn't look like it was to be scrapped and didn't have time to follow it!

My lucky day, shortly after this Austin drove by, spoke to the driver and he said his grandfather bought it new. That one's a keeper!

John, if not inconvenient, or if you're swinging by that way one of these days, could you please confirm that she hasn't gone for scrapping. If she has, and the hacker is looking for a buyer, I'll step in, in shining armour!

Byas, I'd put her squarely as a '69 model year. Why? Because the rear window demister was introduced in '69, while the non-1200s from '70 got the engine lid vents (two and then four sets that we all know). I'm relying on a VW book that I often refer to, although I've also learnt that nothing is the final word, so I could be wrong.

Good call on the rear window. Yes, the '70 had the 2 set of slots (which continued into 71 for the sedans only, while the 71 verts got a one year only 4set of slots lid).

What a joke, someone knows more about my Bus than me, myself.

All these days i was under the impression that i was running a original 34 PICT VW Carb. But this news
