The dash pad you show in the pics above has a circular opening only for one switch -- so I surmise you have the wrong one.

As to the switches, it could have been the angle of the photo.

as to mods, the only ones I noted were: Early year wiper blades (incorrect for '71); body color on grill and glove box (as opposed to the correct L43D code paint); non-basket weave upholstery; door pads have external screws; window winder is diff -- and in a different location than standard (compare with the pic i posted); vase accessory; horn ring is older model; horn button is accessory clock; fan switch and the blower itself seem to be missing.

Byas

so what you say the single opening in the dash, what switch it is meant for?and the car i own since 93,and i don't assume some one would have changed the pad before 93, and was the same as is here, may be the company fitted the wrong one,or they would have consulted some one genius like you,reg the color of door pads etc , it is my personal choice, and i hate loose pads so screwed them with bolts,i very well know the codes etc and have sourced the the TMI carpet set( could easily source seat covers too), but i hate dark dull black interiors, i love my car and want it in my taste, and not restored it for winning some medals in shows, but done because i love her,and would surely mind, if some one simply shows flaws in my taste, its my car, and i am happy with her:OT

Inderpal -- two posts ago you asked for comments. I was not nit-picking, but simply providing my comments in an objective way. No need to get defensive -- I never called any of these modifications flaws. Just simply stated where they differed from factory specs. And, that's not to say that restoring to factory specs is "better". To each his own.

But, if you are going to ask for comments, have the decency to deal with it without resorting to defensive and/or personal attacks.

@Inder, you have asked people to comment and byas has exactly done so. You should be open to feedback and not react in this manner. You never mentioned that no negative comments to be posted, so pls donot get personal.

i do not rank such matter as comments, with nothing positive all negative, this is not commenting, this is criticism, its very easy to point out the mistakes, but very difficult to create a thing,i hope you get my point :OT

I didnt get your point.

Someone gave you an accurate detail of what is not original.

He was merrily pointing out the differences, assuming you arent aware.

It was in no way negative.

Enjoy your cars yourself, dont go fishing for compliments. They dont matter. Period.

I quite agree with your view point sir.

I too have gone through these situations many a times.

You must meet Byas sometime to know what kind of person he is, i feel you have mistaken him. He must have only suggested you for period correctness on your car, which is a simple job for you to revert back to. :) He is an extremely down to earth, humble and HONEST guy you can ever come across in your lifetime.:)

About his car, No car in the country can beat it for period correctness and originality. We must not mistake it for arrogancy.

You are a wise man with a great passion that shows for your cars. Your VW's and other Automobiles you own are extremely enviable and great eye candy's. Congratulations to you to have kept it in top notch condition.

Had been driving my VW Bus since last 3 days.

Today evening got to see one good LHD Beetle, probably a 1965 Bug.

Dear Pawan, this orange car must be 70 -71 car, notice the headlamps, the rubber in the bumper may be a an addition as originally it used to be end to end without space for the plate, or the owner has cut it to fix the plate,
