What do i look for on the rear boot?
Indicators are on the bumper.
Most badges are missing except for the VW logo on the front radiator and Volkswagen on the left side rear panel below the boot.
from what you have described this looks like a1983- 1986 Jetta MK2

Few questions:
1. How do i find out what year it was built, model etc - by looking at it externally?
2. How easy / difficult would it be to source parts?
3. How much should i quote if on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being concourse, i gave it a 3.5?
Hi there,

could you kindly tell me the colour of the car and if possible the registration number as well.

Regards

Indrojit

the Jetta in question looks the same except for the front side indicators missing as marked below.

Can we narrow down the model year with this info?

Have not been able to get in touch with the owner. Either he is too busy when i am free or vice versa. However found it turned around today, so we could say its a running vehicle.. or atleast it starts enough to turn it around in the compound.

Good! Is it a diesel. if so then this diesel engine was reputed as a very frugal one ,mileage being 20kms/litre in its heydays.

Classic VW's are always fun

4 months this Bus was with me for no reason, and thanks to my dear friend for letting me have it anytime i need

Drove it yesterday and today too to my office, took a break in between, went to Madhu's got the wheel alignment done (had some issues).

I was pushed to one side of the road today by a speeding Fiat, got out to see who that Moron was,lol........... it was none other than Chetan and Arun1100 in Funkycar's S1. Took some photos with the Fiat and some more drive.

After end of some 45 kms, went to my dear friends house and dropped it and handed over the keys (Though temporarily . he he he....)

And tomorrow is the day for my Baywindow or my Beetle.

Not fully, you can call it 90% done.

Yes, At Hyderabad none could call it a split bus. It was way too camouflaged to be something else, you know it

Lot more stuff are getting imported.

A Car is never fully restored its an ongoing project,. ( he he he )

Some more pics....

Um, not sure about that- when I'd first seen it around 5 years ago, it did very much look like a VW split, only it was GREEN and white back then!

You mean to say it wasnt as original as it is now...?

+1 to that! Having gone through the same kind of experience, I'll have to now agree!
