Definately a pre 64 car, things that the car owner must look into.

1) Wrong headlights - should be oval sloping headlights
2) Wrong taillights - should be smaller one's
3) Decklid vents - Please have them removed , infact get a new decklid itself.

Regarding the other stuff.. Please post some engine bay pics and some interior pics, we are here to help u get the car back to what it should be.

The cars headlight and fenders are from later model (68 up).Even the tail light belongs to same period.Like Pavanji has pointed out there is some mix and match in these areas. Going by the windshield shape its a 65 car ,looks like a flat windscreen to me.I think even the door handles are of the trigger type, which also is not period.These are issues which can be sorted out any time.Give first priority to getting it running properly and start enjoying the cars.All other things can wait.Restoration is an ongoing process which never ends.Cheers Manish !

yes i tried to make a list a sort of directory-unfortunately the thread was deleted ,giving the reason that this thread already exist.hence the data collected-;lost

This particular beetle from Kaduthururthy near Kottayam has been featured in some malayalam automagazines and also the TV programme -Smart Drive.It is a pity that the owner presents it as a 56 model beetle 56 model beetles are known as oval window .This beetle is actually a mix-match of several model years!!
If my assumption is correct,it is a beetle which on which the papers of a 56 model has been assigned.

Nice thread.There are many beetles in Hyderabad too.One person has 6 beetles immaculately restored and kept in his museum cum workshop in Secunderabad.Since I know him personally,he will most definitly allow me to photograph his beetle collection.I will click once I go that side of town.

And FYI,

Those small tail lights continued untill 1961. Just like the one in the below pic

What is the latest with this one Mr. Kadam? It indeed is a rare find as i have yet to see a split without Semaphores...any more details/updates on this?
