The Beetle & Karmann belong to Dr Ram Pradeep of Chennai. The Beetle has been in long term ownership and the Karman has been restored by him quite some time back and are regulars at the Vintage shows at Chennai.
Incidentally Dr Ram also had a VW181 also called 'The Thing', which is not with him now.

That machine is now in Bombay. I believe it originally came from a missionary.

No, to the best of my info the car is not in Bangalore.Yes the ''persons'' whom you are referring to may have tried their luck at getting this beetle but without sucess

Spotted a beautifully restored VW Beetle yesterday in the parking lot of my apartment complex. The pictures don't do justice to the beauty of the car - they were clicked in the low light of the basement with a camera phone, hence the poor quality. I stood there mesmerized and drooled for the longest time.











The registration number was quite cool, PUP-XYZ, and so were the interiors - nice black leather, Momo Corse steering - and some interesting stickers inside and out (no T-Bhp ones).

The dual tone Red and cream Beetle belongs to a chef of Sheraton Hotel and resides at the adjacent Brigade Gateway near the Yesvantpur railway station.
