Stanher it is true, these three light unit was used in Herald and Gazel. This car may be 1967-69 model. In the earlier models Autometer speedo and combi units of the Smiths look-alike kind without the centre clock was used. Autometer also introduced these types of Yenkay look alikes and were OE in late 1968-69 models. In 1970 the four light cluster was introduced, the additional light was for the low lube oil pressure warning which replaced the oil pressure gauge. This was also the year in which switch key start was introduced replacing the pull start switch in use till then.

This MYI reg is a pristine original piece in my opinion except that the car has solex carb in place of the SU one, which may be a later add in, as spares for SU is difficult to get.

Wow the car looks so untouched and unravaged, with the sunshade adding all the more character to it !
Thanks Jose.

And these days the shopkeepers give a out of the world looks to those seeking petrol engined (the BMC and not the Isuzu) Amby spares.
The MD series appears to be quite old.The front grille is so well secured that not even a mosquito can enter into the radiator frontal part.
Is TCT a Tamil Nadu registration? Must be a later one.

Ambassador the King

TCT is Tamilnadu reg only. Its 86 model Tuticorn registered.

As @Imperial said was 100% true. From all over India Koyas in Coimbatore is very very famous for the interior decoration.

Price will be high, but the quality of work and the finishing is very very nice. For Ambassador they will do a wonderful job.

All latest cars everyone can do the alteration things.but for Amby's ,the perfection will be missed from them (Newbees).Koyas are fantastic for Ambys.

imperial s.a. and dmaheshkumar thanks ! its news to me that Koyas made one of the best upholsteries in our country and were well suited for Ambys. Hope the firm is doing well still.
The older registration numbers were quite tricky but easy to understand if one could grasp the intricacies of each state.

Here is a Landmaster I spotted yesterday, driven by a senior gent. An increasingly rare sight this was - to see a battle scarred daily driver in Bombay.

Nostalgic Karl! I believe that the paint is original- is it the light blue original colour of the 1960's? In the film Humraaz (was it 1967?)there's a scene where such a light blue, brand new MarkII Amby is shown.
The registration is MH 12 -- so the car has come from outside Maharashtra and has been re registered here in Pune. The car is extremely original and a rare piece these days as you put it.

Saw a 1972 azure blue Ambassador, Mark II - a first owner car.I checked it thoroughly. It dons the original paint, original dash (the very rare brown sunmica with the central aluminium plate and three meters) and almost everything else is original but for the chrome headlight rings. The only hitch was that I did not have my camera.
But will be soon back here with lots of pictures of this great and rare example.

It is 1967 model because of a single markII monogram at the rear , our 1965 had 2 monogrames on either sides of front mudguards
