All's well that ends well. Congrats steer. Hope the present for your dad would soon be ready. Waiting to see the pictures. I think the bangalore paint house (that's the best I can call them) did a good job on the paint front. I hope the old man now gets you not just a car but peace of mind as well.

All work has been completed by Navami as promised and the vehicle is reportedly running smooth - they did the full test drive today for Vijayadashami.

The Landy will now be driven to Cochin on Sunday/Monday to finish off misc finishing work:

1. A/c blower replacement - back to the original place in Cochin where they fitted the A/c to see if the twin-National blower concept can be made to work of if there are any other options.

2. Paintwork - the paint on the two rear fenders has to be redone as the extra holes for the Bajaj Auto taillamps have been closed out and temporarily touched up (no Standox paintshop in Ottapalam where the work is being done). THERE ARE REPORTEDLY BUBBLES UNDER THE PAINTWORK IN FRONT - IN WHICH CASE MOTORSMITHS HASNT REALLY DONE THE THOROUGH PAINTJOB THAT THEY CLAIM TO HAVE.

3. Carpeting and Damping - "LBM Kill" sent by B&T to be used to damp the firewall and the carpet is to be replaced. We may even replace the upholstry to real leather.

Can someone help with finding the centrepiece on the original Landy Steering - its a small metal piece with the emblem, which was also the turn indicator mechanism.

Spoke to the guy today. Don't think the twin national setup will work since it seems that it is only 2 inches smaller than the current unit.

An alternate setup worked out is to hide the existing condenser under the dashboard(if possible) and have ducts routed to the two cubbyholes.

Or how about a split AC setup like what we have in the versa??

Surprising - the National unit (the smaller version) seemed to be a whole lot smaller (not just in width but also in depth - the problem with mounting Superking is not its width but its depth from front to back) compared to the Superking.

Lets take a look at it. We'll let Biju and his team decide the best way out, rather than racking our heads.

Steer is in Dubai and I don't think he had a chance to get any pics of the car. I'll be back at Cochin on Saturday. Maybe, I can update by monday.
Guys! Hold on.

Land 1 has landed in cochin. Took a small test drive, initial impressions are good. Needs some more fine tuning though.

Thanks for the update and pics, Jay.

Here are some pics, finally. I'm seeing this car after nearly 2 months (Rudra, FINALLY the mudflaps are off!):

A/c job tomorrow - it looks like the Superking blower may still fit after altering the mounting to be more centered.

LBM-kill and Carpets also to go in soon, and after the paint touch-up in a few locations she should be FINALLY ready. Alpine 9872 + iPod cable on its way now from DXB to India for the ICE (yeah I know we wanted the Panasonic Valve HU, but MotorSmiths in Bangalore had eaten up all my budget and then a lot more, so it will have to be an Alpine setup for now).

Excellent ! Congratulations, Steer!

I was silently following this thread for long . Happy to know that “Ashan” did a good job.
