I'm terrible at bargaining, and tend to show so much excitement when I see a good part I need, that these crooks quote insane prices. And you know what, I buy. I would therefore love to go with you someday !

That grille was certainly there on 63 model cars.

Karl, Basically rjvora's query was of the center monogram that exists in the grille. Could you shed some light on that please?

It is very much a part of that grille. I've seen it on every original super-select grille I can recollect. Only the earlier select grilles didn't have any monograms on them.

Allow me to illustrate.

The "Select" introduced in 1958 featured this style of grille and bonnet badge combination.

My 1962 Fiat Super Select - the journey begins.-01.jpg

There usually was a very delicate plastic "Millecento" script badge in the centre. It probably wouldn't last a year on Indian streets, so the one from this car is stowed safely at home, removed only for photoshoots.

My 1962 Fiat Super Select - the journey begins.-02.jpg

This model continued to 62. Somewhere in mid 62 the Select was discontinued, and the Super Select was introduced featuring this style of grille and bonnet monograme combination. It lost the steel and aluminium trim around the roof rails and under the windscreens.

Oye Suren, the grille is awesome, man.. you've gotten me all excited and sleepless ! After we spoke last night, I actually went through your entire thread to check the grille out !! I'll give you a call sometime soon.
@Karl - Thanks for the info. That "millecento" badge is to die for, I have yet to see any Indian car sporting it.

I'm finding it difficult to understand anything much from your post!!

yea, the dark guy is Ganesh, he's into small time restorations. He had offered me the car for sale sometime back, but i was not interested in it due to the price. Nice to know that the car is in cochin now!
