As for the Electric Fan of S1 in 118 NE, sure the Fan Kilowatt used will add to the engine power i.e. the power used in rotating the fan will now add up to engine power, and if it is thermostat controlled it will be better.

Has anyone tried the thermostat controlled fan on a 118 NE?

its quite simple the pipes that leave the header going down to the muffler are not one but 2. Padmini has one. You should be able to find. If not second hand, the exhaust makers even make new have not seen but they claim. Used to cost close 700 Rs. for the manifold, compared to 250 Rs. for the padmini ones. Used ones would be 200 rs.

@Adheesh- Its ditto Behram's statement.

It it an original Premier cylinder head ? It would have a premier logo as well as part number on the side opposite the water-pump. If its Premier, you have got a very good deal. Congratulations !!

Autolec waterpumps were OE on our cars.

Found this Beautiful Delight with all original stuff except the Monogram, what a lovely unrestored car. The owner has a novel idea to safeguard side repeaters . The number MEO adds to the pleasure.

Dear all - ref post 353, the original cylinder head will have "S62" embossed on its rear vertical face, alongwith an embossed triangle also. If manufactured after 1986, the deck height will be smaller due to change from 7.3:1 to 7.8:1 compression ratio. The water pump was also moved up by 1 mm. The original head will have valve seats and valve guides fitted. The valve seats will not be finish machined. Please post detailed closeup photographs of the spark plug mounting areas. I want to see which mould number this head was cast from. I had worked on the project so I know. I had worked on the drawings also. There is a company called "senator" which also used to make heads but quality is not good. We had a lot of gasket blowups in rally prepared group A cars.

Incidentally, there is an original 1957 fiat cylinder head which someone wants to sell. If anybody wants it, please PM me.

MEO is a good car but needs the restoration touch. It is difficult for "normal" people to do such a restoration. Ask the owner if he wants to restore the car, he can send it to Mumbai. I am serious..

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

Karthik please refer to Behram Sir's post and post pictures of the rear and the recess for mounting the sparkplug.

From the pictures it seems the head face might require facing, also check for straightness. Facing will further increase compression ration .

A lovely car indeed, in perfect period paint scheme and thin whitewalls too. The car is more likely to be a President though, going by the bumpers, wheelcaps and rear badge positioning. Can you confirm? Interior and front end pictures will help.
