Congrats guys, on a super duper Delight. The car looks very virgin, possibly in original paint (called Granopia green or something like that - 2 of my Delights are in the same shade). Great bodyline.

Major fittings are present and in great shape (what lovely bumpers!) including rare aluminium finish front parking lights, rear tail and number plate lights, side indicators, grille, side trims (do you have the front ones?). Bootlid lock is original, the drawer/cupboard handle below is an additional fitment, I would suggest you leave it as it looks period (fitted to a majority of Delights) and is a practical addition. Try opening the boot when the spring has lost its flex, you will know what I mean.

Throw out the carrier, look for roof rail trims from a Padmini in aluminium as the current ones would probably be damaged.

The 3 hubcaps are original, though damaged. A very skilled denter might be able to straighten them, but give a sample of an undented one as well. Scratches will remain, but beggars can't be choosers.

The 3 Yenkay meters in the instrument console are original, I'm glad to see the temp guage working. The 2 oil pressure and ammeter guages are extra, but leave them as they are functional, and match the original style.

I see some extra switches below the dash - maybe for electric washer system, battery cut out and 2nd pair of horns. When (or if) you touch the wiring, get these switches hidden under the dash and out of sight. One toggle switch is not original (right).

The front windscreen rubber is from a Padmini, the original one has no groove to fit trim. Ignore it, as the original cannot be gotten today.

Do share pictures of the seats, front seat rear backrest (with net and ashtray, if present), door pads, dicky etc. for our academic interests. I see the original maroon material present under the jewel light.

Did you recieve any original delivery note, manual, waranty booklet, keys, tools etc? If so please share.

Wish you happy motoring ahead in a very enjoyable car.

Delight

Some more pics of the Delight. Inside door and windows levers, few are original and few are from Padmini. The car has full fabric seat covers, could not see if it has the net and aluminium beading. Tail lights and number plates lights are aluminium. The right side door trims are steel after market ones i think. Floor is original, but has deep surface rust. 64000kms on odo.

For Sale!

Hi guys! Thank you all for the wonderful insights. Karl, will try and get the pics you asked for. Arun1100, thanks for coming down and checking the car! Now, for some good news and bad news. It was a difficult decision to make, but Arun has decided to let go of this car, as he has been offered an Elegant. This 1100D was being abused by the previous owners, and still has some scars on it. It would have rotted away in a few months time. Arun felt sorry when he saw the car, and decided to rescue it. He is willing to let it go to anyone (preferably in B'lore) who truly values Fiats, and also understands the originality aspect of this car. Let's face it, you don't come across cars like this everyday!
If interested, PM me, and I'll put you onto Arun.

Good News, Again!!!

Manish (ManishAlive) finally got his car to Bangalore from his home town. The transport guys were supposed to drive it to his home from their gowdon. But as the brakes were not working we had to tow the car to his home.

The bodyline of the car is descent with no major rusts anywhere. Half of the body trims are missing. Grill, bumpers, original seat covers, meter console, steering with FIAT horn button, FIAT 1100 Monogram are intact.

Manish was very happy to see his car finally here. He immediately started checking for the original parts left in the car and recollecting if he has the missing part in his collection of Fiat parts. He had seen it only once few months back that too in dark. He was quite satisfied with the left over parts in the car. The car looked really cute(the word cute kept coming to my mind whenever i looked at the car). I am happy that a nice Fiat has been rescued.

Manish Post some pics. Good luck for your restoration.

Thanks for posting this, Karthik! I used to follow this thread last year, and then forgot about it. Good to see that its still active!
Out of curiosity, was wondering if there are any rallies today where one can enter a stock or modified Fiat or Amby. Also, was there any Fiats at last year's Nandi Hills climb?
The Bangalore Fiat 1100 Club has some modded cars like Jeff's and Sujith's. I was just imagining these cars going head to head in a (legal) 400 meter drag

Even Karthik MB (Karthik1100) had the same question. I will check with some of the K1000 friends and get back in a couple of days. Dragg?? Yeah, some of the club cars (with the right tuning) can challenge many others.

Thanks arun for the appreciation, as for the trims the good news is that my father has them, he just forgot to send them along . Few missing bits are there in my parts collection and few not. Here are the pictures

Engine is all original except for 1. Ignition coil 2. Cutout relay.

The fresh air inlet system along with air box is missing.

Except for the aluminium number plate lights and aluminium rear lights, I have all the things in place (on or off the car)

Grab handles are there on both sides, the lights are not original but I have repro ones.

Fiat 1100 Club - Bangalore [FCB]-dsc04707.jpg

Good one Manish! I heard from Arun yesterday that you would get the tinker work done from outside and restore all mechanicals by yourself. I wish you the best of the best luck.

Whats your plan? when would you start the restoration?

Nice car Manish. What is that small plate under the ignition key ? also the hub cap in the last picture looks like its from a later car and not what came on this car.

The upholstry is exactly the same as we have on our car. What was the original colour of this car ?

The small plate is the selling dealers name plate, I will clean and keep it. The Headlights long with rings I believe are not original.

As for the hubcap, this was there on the car when i dought, can some one confirm??

The original color would have been the famous cream color of the fiats, later resprayed with a darker shade.

All in all I have got many original bits (few missing tough), restoring her would be a tough challange.

As I picked her up in the night she indeed looked cute, She blinked one eye and with a smile said thanks. Cause other wise she would have gone to slaughter house of cars.
