More than restoring it to its original condition, I would like to see someone do a Hot-rod on these bodyshells. A petrol V6 under the hood, fat tyres/alloys, beefed up brakes and suspension and a custom shiny paint job. It will be fun to see the expression on a motorist's face whose modern ride just gets shot past by this Hot-rod.

Thanks to a Team-BHP Fan who'd rather stay anonymous for sending pics of his Hindustan 10. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing them with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

Thanks for sharing - I think this car was in long term ownership earlier in maroon, and was being offered for sale at one time. Glad to see it refurbished.

Karl, it is interesting to note that you have used the word refurbish rather than restore. Is it due to the lack of originality in the work carried out?

Karl is correct. The car was in long term ownership in Fort Cochin and was for sale.
It was purchased by someone in Trivandrum a few years back.

A rare ad of the Hindustan 10 from June 1947 showing the dash here. Unfortunately not great quality.

A friend has one of these in Bombay, unrestored and not running, wants to restore it and make it running condition. Car needs tyres and a bit of denting painting, has rust but not too much. Pretty sure engine would need an overhaul too since the car is standing since years. Would a decent restoration job done under Rs 1 lakh or do you guys think it would go more than that. Thankfully, car has most of its orignal parts and fittings.

Although not a restoration expert but having heard the costs of resoration these days, I think 2-3 lakhs expense can be expected.

Hi. I am looking for a download (any format) of a user's manual for the Hindustan 10. Any ideas where i could procure one, and what should it cost ?

Also, how similar was the Hindustan 10 to the Morris 10, series M ? Asking in case i don't find a Hindustan 10 manual, and have to settle for the Morris one, which are available on the net.

Thanks.

Getting a an original Hindustan 10 especially in book form will be quite a task.
because the Hindustan 10 was not sold in large numbers(limited to 2 years).
It is almost similar to Morris 10 except for the monograms, badges, wheel caps.pedal rubbers,no sunroof etc.

A fellow owner had kindly shared a photocopy of an original manual with me (and also a Morris one), once I find it I can gladly scan you a copy. In the interim please do share some pictures and details on your car.

Is your query about the owner's manual or about the workshop manual?

You can query with this Facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/7228...774/?ref=share

The Hindustan 10 is the post war Morris 10 M Series (1945-48) with cosmetic touches on its front grille. The other minor cosmetic touch was the Morris logo disappearing from the grille to the bonnet sides (Hindustan 10 logo for India on the bonnet sides).

Hence a Morris 10 M Series owner's /workshop manual will be OK for your car.

In fact, HM used workshop manuals printed in the UK till the Landmaster (the workshop manual used by HM and its dealers mentions it as the Morris Oxford Series II). Not sure about the older Ambassadors, but am open to inputs from friends who are aware.
