Just bought a 1974 VW Beetle, some parts needed

Hi
After months of looking around, calling up 100s of people across India, reading extensively on blogs, posts and Team-bhp, I finally found myself a 1974 Beetle in decent condition.
I was told there is a problem with the clutch wire which I could fix once the car arrives in Delhi. Yes, there was a problem, but it turned out it was much bigger than just a wire tweak.
So, now the engine had to removed to get a closer look at the clutch.
The plate, luckily is fine but a part of the clutch cover that keeps the plate in place is broken.
Also, the brake line is damaged. The rear tyres were leaking brake fluid.
There a few things missing in the car.

The front bumper for one. The dickey and back locks, base of one of the back lights, wipers, read view mirror, side view, sun shades......the list is a long one. Oh yes, the rim for the spare tyre is missing too (the tire is there though).

Need help to figure out where I could get all of the above in Delhi. I think I found a pair of wipers. Rest is still missing.

If you gave a point wise list it would be better. Can you provide some pictures of the parts you need along with the pictures of your car.

Many congratulations and welcome to the wonderful world of fellow beetle owners. What are the specifications of the car? Is it a Superbeetle? 1500cc or 1600cc etc. History of the car etc..

Thanks guys

This one is a 1600 cc (not a super beetle), 1974.

I have no idea of the history of the car.

It got a new paint job just before i got it. It has been neatly done. No rust on the surface, in the flooring, battery area, door hinges.

What is missing:

1. Front dickey handle (lock).
2. Rear bonnet handle (lock).
3. Wheel caps (all four)
4. Front Bumper
5. Rear view mirror and side view mirror
6. Spare tyre rim

Will post pics soon.

I have some spare side view mirrors. Will check. The rear lock used to be the type that was held on by 3 screws and then by 2 screws. I have a spare of the former I think.

This reminds me that I have a bunch of spares and used parts that I probably don't need to keep. Will have to make a list.

Post some pics of your car. I'm sure you'll get a lot of help.

Hi, I will be getting down to sorting out my store of junk soon, hopefully. Been pending for five + years now. I'll definitely pass on anything I find suitable for your model and not for mine, old or new. Please pm me your contact details. I'll give you some sources for parts around Delhi and also fill you in on some tricks! You could also PM awini on the forum for inputs. He knows a thing or two about VWs as well. Do you have manuals for your car? If not, that is something that's at hand with me now and will get a copy made for you if you want. Very useful stuff and helps to follow it like faith. Sorry about insisting on the PM part though, just want to make sure that whatever little I have to share goes to a end user, hope you don't mind.

Is it a bad idea to try and fit a Cielo clutch plate on the 74 beetle?

Interesting to see earlier style 5-bolt wheels. These would not have come originally with your car, being discontinued in around 66.

Wish you all the best in this endeavour. There are many gurus here to help you at every step, do not hesitate to ask.

Incidentally I am using a Maruti 800 master cylinder for my 56 Bug's braking system, fits beautifully with very minor alterations.
