A similar model Morris car came to my friends garage for restoration. The top can be done much better. Rear window is Yuck.

I've been seeing this car 'getting restored' for the last 2 years now! 'wonder when it ever will finish. They are all owned by the mechanic who lives in the house behind the car, opposite the MGBS bus stand.

Actually to say, such tourers can be termed collectibles.

They are hard to get, and becoming rarer by the day.

clap:

Painting done.

All mechanicals procured

Fitting to start by tomorrow

Upholstery work started

Electricals to start from tomorrow.

Phew.... Just waiting to see the finished product.

will update pics by tomorrow.:)

Updates as on date.

Fitting of parts will start by today evening. Just need to make sure the paint is dry.

The quality of the paint job looks really nice Pavan. What kind of paints were used and what process adopted.

Was this done in the open or in a paint booth.

In my days in India getting a good paint finish or chrome plating was a serioud problem. Now I see cars done in India like those in Calcutta have an exceptionally good paint finish along with good chrome.

Some of the cars in the Cartier event were great looking too on par with any quality restoration done overseas.

Thank you Wasif :)

I always insist on Dupont materials for paint. While the paint used is superior quality of Dupont paint which is called Dupont Super LE ( LE - Low emission )

Procedure involved:

1) 2K primer and patti
2) 2K Base coats - 3 coats
3) Dupont surfacer
4) Dupont Tube patti
5) 3 coats of Dupont Super ( what ever shade )

The paint was done in the open, but in a dust free surroundings and also when the sun was Burning Hot outside.

Paint job looks amazing. Please post updated pics asap sir.

10 day countdown begins before the engine fires.:D

Due to the Unfortunate demise of the mechanic's elder brother, work came to a stand still for 3 weeks.

But since today morning, work is in full swing. Hope to see the car engine fire by tomorrow morning.:)

SETBACKS and PROGRESS:

Having trouble with the diffrentials, Only few bolts were missing from the gearbox. FIXED:D

Some i***t had welded the gearbox bedding shackle to the body:Frustrati, whole day was spent making bedding clamps and finally the gearbox work is DONE.

The existing brake pipes are rusted and blocked at many places, Needs replacement. Will be done TOMORROW.

The OH-REEE- GEEE-NAL SU Carb finally went in with the OHH-REEE-GHEEE-NHAL airfilter.

Efforts to start this car turns futile. The SU carb is giving lots and numerous troubles.:Frustrati

We've opened it up presently to overhaul the carb, get one more set of upsize jets and try firing the car by tomorrow.

Just hoping it would be alright now.

Hi Pavan & everyone following this thread,

I am new member of Team-BHP and this is my second post. I have gone through the complete project & keeping in view the spares crisis for these cars locally, I would call this a wonderful effort to save another Moggie on the planet!

I am also restoring a Morris Minor 1000 as per stock specs & she is in her final stages of completion, I am not sure if its Ok to post the link of restoration thread from another website here, Anyways, I can definitely share pictures.
