I suppose you could measure the lining thickness after you get the spec from the service manual. But most people go by mileage and feel.

In bangalore General motors close to JC road has a good hold on 123 parts. apart from hime there is lazar who deals with more of second hand parts. he also procures them if you pay advance .. but the prices are quite high when compared to general motors.

Re: Mercedes benz 300d

Dear Rudra Sen, I respect your comments and truly was not trying to have any personal attack on a fellow Bhpian.

I respect this forum and offer you my apology for any wrong statements that I had made.

My only intention was to advise our genuine fellow Bhpians to be careful while trying to buy a Classic car.

In a while, I will post the pictures of this same car that I completely restored myself with only a Mechanic to help me.

I value Team BHP as an institution and its never greater than any individual.

I am posting some pics of a the same car in this thread after 6 months of restoration.

Regards

Harshad

Re: Mercedes benz 300d

Awesome! A real true effort taken to restore this.

I own a 1984 200D Automatic, I would like to restore it. Can anyone help me with the cost involved and also if there is any good mechanic or Work shop in Chennai.

If you can post some interior pictures, and under the hood would really help me decide if I want to drive it all the way to Bangalore to restore it.

Thanks.

Your car just made my morning . Congratulations on the W123, it's amongst the cleanest examples I've seen in recent time. Can we please have some interior pictures as well? Thanks.

Thank You Very Much, sure I will post more pictures in this same post.

I value and respect you thoughts. This care was restored in my home basement except for the paint job and with a mechanic who has more than 38 years of Mercedes Benz restoration. I can PM you the number and details

Re: Mercedes benz 300d

What a splendid specimen and one of my all time favourites as well. The smiling face never fails to put a smile on my face.

Also thanks for educating me that the 300D came with a 5 cylinder mill, i was always under the impression it was a 6 potter.

I am sure you and the Benz will have many many happy miles ahead. Congrats and enjoy.
