HM Ambassador Mark II - Operation Manual

Hi friends,

Thought this might be of some use to someone. One my friends happened to spot this Manual in a Waste Paper Mart. He immediately took it out and passed it over to me. Its an original Ambassador Mark II manual printed in May, 1970. Has the complete maintenance tips, wiring diagram and the Lubrication Chart.

Awesome find. You should maybe post the whole scanned copy of the book as it will be useful to some of our readers who are looking for info on their vehicle.

Nice find - Hey, you need to post this in the "Classic automobile books / workshop manuals thread" in the Vintage and Classics section. It will be better appreciated there.

Re: HM Ambassador Mark II - Operation Manual

Look for the Yenkay and Autometer make instrument clusters which were OE in those Ambys. The Smiths lookalike by Autometers can clearly be seen. These were discussed in some other Amby threads.

Like wise another point discussed in some other Amby thread is the drain intervals of engine oils; it was a mere 1600 KMs then.

Great but where have all the Mark II s gone ? Hardly any on the road now. But the trivia reminds of the good old days when life was simple, god knows how many family members used to fit into the Amby, not less than 8 to 9 i guess on a trip to the airport, those were the days when everyone came to see you off at the Aerodrome!

In Trivandrum city alone there are about a dozen markII 's in regular use and at least a few of them have original petrol engines!!

Re: HM Ambassador Mark II - Operation Manual

Remember having seen a tattered & torn manual (remember the pages though) of my father's 1968 Mk II. Learnt mechanics with the help of that book. Remember the concept of child proof locks. I could not open the doors from inside, had to call my mother all the time.

Saurav
