A 1960 RHD Chevrolet Impala 4 Door Hardtop

Here is a 1960's RHD Chevrolet Impala 4 Door Hardtop from Kerala. It wasn't for sale & can't move because of a busted power-train according to the owner, who is in fact an avid collector with close to a 100 beauts. He won't be restoring it due to lack of interest in American rides AFAIK. There is a chance that it might still be there in the same place now & might be on sale if opinions changed in the last two years.

It was locked, so no interior pics but everything was in order from a quick glance. The front grill is in safe storage IIRC. And this barge is built like a tank!

I should look something like this if brought back to life. I wish someone could save her.

The car looks in a very good cosmetic shape with all major bits intact. I wonder what kind of collector is he to let a classic (at least for India) rot away; he should instead give it away to someone who IS interested to restore this car.

Nope. Its at Kottayam. I can't disclose more details now.

It's not rotting in any way except for the dust. Also it can be seen that the rear bumper is smeared with junk oil to keep away rust. Many of his cars are in AS-IS state but every one of them is kept under a roof and nowhere near rotting. Still, that sight can break our hearts.

No need to disclose .Once you said Kottayam many people in this thread can easily guess whose car it is.
The car has been restored and the cars number is TMR.-XXX By the way he has 35 odd cars not 100 as stated by you.the other car in the photo is a 1954 Chevrolet

Yes that will be true if we are talking about the same car. I went there in mid 2011 and had these details and pics. Then it must've started breathing a few months after that. Didn't even think he would sell it from the way he talked. Maybe i should infer things better.

I'm interested to know the present status of this Impala. Can you help point me to the right thread as i can't spot it from search?

Err i couldn't find any restored pics or any sort of info about this TMR car from this thread or the classics threads except for this one pic, in which it is in a neat shape, from 30th jan 2011(took from classics thread). Did i miss something?

I went there during April 2012 (sorry i mentioned mid 2011 somewhere else) and saw it in non-restored state. So any idea about its present condition?

My goodness, he sure does have a great collection. The 123 series MB does seem in good shape.... Is there any hope of him parting it to someone who can offer a good home?
