Could somebody tell me where is the chassis print located on a 57 Dodge Kingsway ? The one on left front pillar is a tag . Is there another stamped on the body someplace . Need the print for RTO .

The tag in the left front pillar is the only place where the chassis number is given. Please see the POC Membership form which clearly indicates the same



We showed the RTO the application form as proof that it only appears there and he accepted the same

My 57 Kingsway is almost complete . Just require one left front door chrome trim . Anybody knows where I can find one ? It is like the one which comes on the front fender , just a little smaller

The V-8 could have been a Plymouth Savoy or Belvedere both of which came with a V-8.
The Kingway model for those years was a re-badged Plymouth , this rebadging was linked to overseas sales market including India.
It is quite common for the cars to be referred to as Dodge.

Just conjecturing....

The car pictured requires a lot of work , 6 cylinder flat head engines for Dodge are not so difficult to source , the car is an easy restoration project .

Dodge, Plymouth & DeSoto that were assembled by PAL , did not offer choice of engines. The flathead six was the only engine and they all had three speed on the column. However, US models did offer several engines- from the basic flat six to low end V8 to the more powerful hemi V8 s. I agree that this particular Dodge Kingsway has been modified in more then one way.Roofline seems bulging upwards, there is floor shifter indicated a different transmission because of a diesel engine.
Which brings to mind a question : what happens to the actual performance of a car when a low power diesel motor is jammed into a large car and coupled to a questionable transmission. Are these four or six cylinder, what about changes to the electrical system, cooling, added weight of the motor and instrumentation. Is this what is commonly referred to as ' Jugad' ?
On the other hand there are numerous examples , all over BHP pages, of car lovers restoring, painstakingly, big and small, old and not so old , cars to their original beauty.

Spotted this Kingsway today. Probably used in some film/ad shoot looking at the graphics

Front looks toothless without the ornamentation. Perhaps a dentist has played his cards!!!:)

Hi to all, good to see few snaps of my favourite Dodge Kingsway. I too had one for around 15 years(my daddy had bought it for me) but it got engulfed in a fire mishap in one of my uncles godown. I will upload few of the pics later.

Is this the Rastafarian Dodge? Looks quite like a Buffalo Soldier itself!

By the way his son was in India just recently, to promote his company - House of Marley, may be this shoot has do something with that.

Hi Shahbaaz - seeing your profile picture I immedeately recognise the car. I would see it for the longest time standing in Abhanga Apartments, then never saw it again. Was the car scrapped?

Firstly I would like to take this opportunity to thank my Daddy who bought this beauty for me just for the sake of my deep interest.
Well Maximum number of years we used it in Aurangabad and frequently use to travel down to Pune(Chinchwad). Later when we shifted back to Pune(my native), we did not have place to park it in our society. Being a joint family we already owned multiple vehicles (cousin runs a car rental business). Finally had to park it in one of my uncles gowdown in Ranjangaon. For a year it was kept there and I was planning to bring it back to our house. Had a discussion with one of my in-law who runs a garage in Ahmadnagar that we will invest two days in cleaning and restarting it. But in meantime had to travel abroad due to professional commitment. After a month tragedy struck and my uncle's gowdown caught fire(3 yrs ago) at evening time. Laborer's rushed to pull trucks out but forgot to get my car out which was hardly 20 feet away from main gate and next to office. Everything burnt and I came to know from my wife after almost 12 days that "My first love is no more". It was my worst moment of life. After returning back, and till date I did not go to the site but have the photos. I will upload them in future. The body and chassis is still kept at my uncle's friend's gowdown somewhere in Ranjangaon.
Buddy, I have lot of memories of it. Still remember each and every corner in detail. Though the car was not in its original state as it was fitted with a P4 Perkins diesel engine but had it's original 3 speed gear box. Someday will open up with lots of stories related to it and how I was able to buy it from it's previous owner. I was just a first yr student but since 11th std was behind him.
15 yrs memory flashed up-great! Thanks Team BHP to have this forum up.. I am really missing my Dodge.

Sorry for not remembering the name of building but attached here are few more snaps(Good and bad times).
The previous owner Aspi Irani had a flat in the same building but stayed in cotter-gate area/camp.
When we visited Dr. Grant(Ruby hall) for my Daddy treatment, we happened to just peep into the premises and got a view of this car and since then it took around 2 to 3 years for us to convince the owner to sell it to us. This was when me and my cousin were still in 11th std. Finally when I was in my 1st yr of engineering I was able to own it.
