Specific Padmini spare parts dealer in Banaglore

Hi FCBian,
I need your help. One of my friend from Dharwad is owning Padmini and he is in need of some spares which he could not get in Kolhapur/Hubli.
Please post some 2-3 specific dealer's name and area/nearby location so that he will read and visit the shops whenever he will visit Banaglore. ( you can send me PM if any violation)

Hey everyone, i have recently overhauled my PADMINI. I have put new autocraft bumpers, but in only a years time, it has started to show signs of rust.(a little here & there)
I stay very near to the beach. Is this the reason or is it the poor quality of the part?

Jatin, thats the beauty of OE bumpers. Apart from the fantastic profile that is unique only to them, the original bumpers with company chrome were extremely rust resistant, especially the ones that that came with Presidents and early Padminis. Even after 40 years, one round of chrome polish would make them look brand new.

You can always do a Rechrome on them. But it all depends on the quality and the worksmanship of the man.

(I am RUTWIJ, not jatin. )
Yup, i agree to that; older parts had a very nice finish and quality.
Any idea where can i re-chrome them?, not for now, but sometime in future.
And will it help if i wax polish them every month?

Regards,
RUTWIJ.

I have a question for all the fiat gurus here - What is the difference between the standard 7 Port cylinder head and the S1 Head ? What are the other differences in the two engines ?

My regular spare part shop guy once said that he can procure the JAY make Ignition/steering lock if a sample is produced to him. He was quoting somewhere around Rs 800/- to 1000/-.

Hey ilango thanks for the reply. I am pretty sure that there is only 30% chance of its availability. Here one spare part stockist is quoting 600 Rs for it but don't know the make and availability is also doubtful. Is there any specific reason for lesser supply of this particular type of switch. Have seen many S1's fitted with those ugly centre mounted ign. switches. I don't want that crap in my car so asked for its availability.
BTW are these switches repairable, if procured from scrapyard.

Reson is simple, less demand - less supply. I dont think there is anything you could replair once the levers are worn out. Fins a switch from any old PP, which had an additional ignition switch in the middle or right side of dash board. This will ensure that the electrical part of the switch is untouched, and also a small guarantee that this lock set has been used lesser number of times as compared to the main ignition switch. While buying do try opening & locking the assembly a couple of times and have a feel of the wear in the levers. Check how wornout the key is and how easily it slides in. Do not buy if the key slides in loosely.
