Re: Fiat 1100 / Premier Padmini - Parts to Stock for FUTURE!

Dear Friends,
I have a ashtray for a Fiat, probably an early one of the sixties. This is the one that was fitted behind the front seat, for the use of the passengers traveling in the rear. I would be willing to trade it for another rear ashtray; I need one for restoring my Mark II Ambassador.
Regards,
Raghu

By chance is this the ash tray you are talking about? If yes then is it a complete set with the outer bracket.

OK friends whether MSL or MSI, no supply these days, not even other cheap brands. I was lucky I purchased all good stuff a year ago.

Atleast that is the case in Bangalore, I enquired today for Arun. Other stuff is also fast depleting.

Surprisingly I was unable to get a cam dummy .

Oh ok i didn't knew fiat clutch parts were also manufactured by MSL. Thanks a lot for correcting me sirji.

As Manish bhai already pointed out every mechanical part is getting dried up here too. Even the inferior quality ones are unavailable now and that is a serious matter of concern. Recently bought an oil pump from a reputed dealer here which came all the way from Mumbai.
Still looking for a Accelerator cable for my S1.

Siper brand ignition / steering lock for Padmini

Hi folks,
Yesterday I procured a brand new Siper brand ingition / sterring lock that goes into Premier Padminis. I could only get the lock & key, but the assembly didnot have the connectors. Ofcourse I can solder them from a old key set. Got it for Rs 450/-. The keys have "Fiat" embossed on it and also it says "Made in Italy". Can some one through light on this brand of ignition locks?

It would be Sipea which were oem for Fiat apart from magnetic marelli. Sipea also made the toggle switches and piano switches, I have the toggle switch of Sipea make for my car.

In India PAL used to had these imported components on delights and earlier cars, later replaced by the parts from Indian suppliers.

Re: Fiat 1100 / Premier Padmini - Parts to Stock for FUTURE!

After a lot of hunting for Fiat spares in scrapyard recently thought of visiting the local spare parts shop. From what i experienced, Fiat /PP parts are fast depleting from the market. What worries me the most is the non availability of mechanical parts. So a thought came to my mind and would like to hear comments on PARTS TO STOCK FOR FUTURE FOR REBUILDING THE ENGINE.
It would be nice to hear what parts are needed while rebuilding the engine along with the make of the same.
My contribution:

1. Engine Packing set- Banco/ Victor make
2. Piston rings.

There are some parts like shims, rings, bores, journal bearings etc, which can be judged only after opening up and examining the current conditions of the engine. Parts like rubber & cork gaskets tend to go brittle while preserving. How do we stock these kind of parts?

Re: Fiat 1100 / Premier Padmini - Parts to Stock for FUTURE!

These bonnet "pattis" salvaged a few years ago from various Fiat 1100s are available to a good Fiatian home. 'wouldnt expect anyone to take all of them but glad if someone did!
As I dont need them in any way now. But I want to make sure they only go to people who really need them (ie. who own the relevant fiats that were fitted with these)

The smaller aluminium one I think I got from a Millecento. The bigger shiny/chrome ones (taken from Super-Selects) are good but for some minor pitting. The aluminium SS one (with red dot) is one of its kind I came across so not sure if its original or repro.

Anyone interested please pm me, thanks.
